22. Route the end of the cable with the eye ring to the battery disconnection unit (Fig. 1/7).
23. Remove the cover and screw the eye ring onto the bolt (Fig. 1/6).
(Recommended torque: 4-6 Nm).
24. Route the 11-core cable set (A3, A3 Sportback: over the right wheel housing) up to the rear
bench seat, (LHD = cross from right to left here) and along the existing cable looms / cable
ducts on the driver's side up to the control unit for the vehicle electrical system in the driver's
footwell.
25. Connect the brown wires with eye ring to the vehicle ground point, rear right (Fig. 1/3, Cabrio:
Fig. 1/3a).
For vehicles with battery at the front carry out the following steps:
26. Connect the 2-pin plug of the supplied, long, 2-core cable set with the mating connector of the
13-core cable set (use the foam cut-outs).
27. Route the 11-core and long, 2-core cable sets (A3, A3 Sportback: over the right wheel
housing) up to the rear bench seat, (LHD = cross from right to left here) and along the
existing cable looms / cable ducts on the driver's side up to the control unit for the vehicle
electrical system in the driver's footwell.
28. Connect the brown wires with eye ring to the vehicle ground point, rear right (Fig. 1/3, Cabrio
Fig. 1/3a).
The following steps are universally applicable:
29. 29 – 36. >>MY09: Slide open the red catch on the control unit for the vehicle electrical system
(BSG) (Fig. 1/2).
30. Open the red latch on the network control unit by shifting it, disconnect the black 12-pin
connector (position G) from the network control unit and open the latch. Unlock the following
wires and insert it into the black 3-pin socket housing provided on the cable set:
The orange/brown wire from compartment 7 into compartment 1.

The orange/green wire from compartment 8 into compartment 3.

31. Insert the individual orange/brown and orange/green wires of the cable set into the now free
compartments 7 and 8 of the 12-pin plug as indicated by the colours.
32. Close the locking mechanism and re-insert the plug into the network control unit.
33. Pull out the 16-pin plug (socket E2) from the network control unit and open the latch. Release
the following wire and insert into the 3-pin socket housing on the cable set:
Black/yellow wire from chamber 2 into chamber 2.

34. Insert the black/yellow wire from the cable set into the freed chamber 2 of the 16-pin plug.
35. Close catches and reconnect plug to the vehicle electrical system control unit, close red catch
on BSG.
36. Plug the open 3-pin housings together.
