Store popcorn in airtight containers made of glass or plastic to avoid moisture
loss in the kernels. Store container in a cool dry place, however, do not store
in refrigerator.
Always use fresh popcorn. Dried out, stale or old popcorn will pop poorly as it
has lost its moisture content and may scorch.
If popcorn does not pop, it is usually the result of environmental factors such
as the freshness and moisture content of the popcorn. Unpopped kernels do
not necessarily indicate a defect in the appliance.
Over time, salt and oil can abrade and make the popcorn maker walls dirty. It
is important to thoroughly clean and dry after ever use.
If the kettle is not heating, check that the cord is securely plugged into the
outlet on the kettle itself.
If the popcorn maker begins to smoke during cooking, it may be due to grease
build up. To reduce smoking, make sure that the inside of the kettle is clean in
between uses.
Other than popping with vegetable oil, try healthy choices like extra virgin
olive oil, canola oil, coconut oil, corn oil, peanut oil, or sunflower oil. Specialty
oils may also be used, but some experimentation may be necessary to find the
best popping results and flavor you prefer.
