1- INTRODUCTION
Congratulations on purchasing your WEDZE AIRBAG 30.
This manual describes the operation and use of the WEDZE
AIRBAG 30.
IMPORTANT: You must read this manual before using
your WEDZE AIRBAG 30, and keep it for future reference.
Pay close attention to the warnings, follow the directions
provided closely, and keep these instructions handy for
future reference.
The WEDZE AIRBAG 30 is a piece of emergency equipment.
After activation, it can, under certain conditions, prevent total
burial under an avalanche. It cannot prevent the triggering of
avalanches. A fatal risk remains, even if the user is not buried.
Avalanches are life threatening regardless of the equipment
used. Wearing a WEDZE AIRBAG 30 should not encourage
you to take additional risks.
The WEDZE AIRBAG 30 system is certified by TÜV Süd
(Daimlerstr. 11, 85748 Garching bei München, Germany) and
complies with the requirements of standard EN 16716: 2017
as well as CE Regulation EU 2016/425 on personal protective
equipment.
DECATHLON SE cannot be held responsible for injuries
caused by an avalanche while using the WED'ZE AIRBAG 30.
2- WARNING AND PROPER USE
All safety equipment has its limits. Read carefully and follow
all these instructions:
● The WEDZE AIRBAG 30 is designed for activities such
as skiing, snowboarding, ski touring and snowshoeing. It
is not intended for use in any other sport. CANNOT BE
USED IN WATER.
● Do not immerse the WEDZE AIRBAG 30 in water.
● Avalanches are life threatening regardless of the equip-
ment used.
● The WEDZE AIRBAG 30 does not prevent the triggering
of avalanches.
● The WEDZE AIRBAG 30 does not guarantee complete
protection against burial in the snow.
● Wearing the WEDZE AIRBAG 30 should not encourage
you to take additional risks on the slopes.
● The WED'ZE AIRBAG 30 does not replace the safety /
emergency equipment usually used in the event of an
avalanche: always equip yourself with an avalanche victim
detector (avalanche transceiver), shovel and probe when
going off-piste.
● The WEDZE AIRBAG 30 must be handled with care. It
should be inspected in detail before each use. If the airbag
or inflator are damaged, the correct operation of the system
is no longer guaranteed.
● When storing your airbag, make sure nothing is likely to
tear, damage or cut it (as well as the inflation system and
its fabric protection).
● Make sure the airbag inflates without difficulty.
● Fold the airbag according to the instructions. Any incorrect
folding will prevent the airbag from opening and lead to a
major malfunction which could damage the bag.
● The WEDZE AIRBAG 30 must always be clean; a poorly
maintained inflation system cannot guarantee the operation
of the airbag.
● Keep children away from the WEDZE AIRBAG 30.
● When you trigger your WEDZE AIRBAG 30, pay at-
tention to your environment, being careful not to endanger
those around you.
● To avoid unwanted or inadvertent triggering, which could
injure people around you, we recommend that you store
the trigger handle in the pocket provided for this purpose
on the backpack strap and close the zip, especially when
you're on a chairlift, in a cable car, in or near a helicopter,
in a bus, train or car.
● Do not use the AIRBAG system with unauthorised carrying
systems (other backpack, jacket, vest, etc.).
