reconditioned.
Improper handling can compromise the functioning
of the system.
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) approves
their transport by air.
ALPRIDE cartridges must be stored in a protected place.
Damaged cartridges should be replaced. ALPRIDE cartridges
must be kept away from all sources of heat (sunlight, hobs,
etc.).
4.2. Type and inspection
1- The operating pressure of this cartridge is 17.5 mpa.
2- Cartridges are designed for a temperature range of -30
to +50°C.
3- They should not be used outside this ambient temperature
range.
4- One of these cartridges contains compressed argon while
the other contains liquefied CO2.
5- These cartridges should only be used with the ALPRIDE
device. They cannot be reconditioned. They must be
recycled. The contents are subjected to a pressure of
17.5 mpa. If the weight of this gas cartridge is less than the
minimum weight indicated on it (minimum net weight), it must
not be used.
5- PREPARATION INSTRUCTIONS
In the event of an avalanche, pull the trigger handle to
activate the inflation system: the 150-litre avalanche airbag
then inflates in 3 seconds.
The design of the WEDZE AIRBAG 30 system is based
on the physical principle of inverse segregation. This is the
phenomenon whereby the smallest particles of a uniformly
moving mass tend to accumulate downward, while the larger
particles remain on the surface. Once inflated, the airbag
increases the volume made up by the victim and therefore
significantly amplifies the effect of inverse segregation.
The avalanche backpack thus helps prevent total burial in
the snow.
The shape of the airbag protects the user's back and head.
In addition, its rounded shape allows for optimal flotation
efficiency on the avalanche and its bright colour ensures
rapid location.
A- PREPARATION
The correct functioning of the WEDZE AIRBAG 30 system
and its handling by the user form 2 fundamental parameters.
Handling is simple, but must be carried out with care accor-
ding to the steps below:
1- Purchase ALPRIDE cartridges. Open the box and take out
the cartridges.
2- Use the arming tool to arm the inflation system. To do this,
screw it in until the red indicator disappears. Then, remove the
tool by unscrewing it and put it away.
3- Fit both cartridges on the inflation system.
4- Make sure the cartridges are screwed in securely.
5- Close the textile cover, around the inflation system and
cartridges.
6- Prepare your bag for your session.
7- Put on the bag and adjust the shoulder straps, chest strap,
waist belt and crotch strap to your size.
8- Open the zip to release the trigger handle.
Before your session, consider practising the handle grabbing
and triggering motion.
WARNING: such training should ONLY be done when the
system is not armed.
B- ADJUSTMENTS
Put on the WEDZE AIRBAG 30 backpack and adjust the
shoulder straps, chest strap, (1), belt (2), and crotch strap to
your size. It's important not to forget the crotch strap, as it
will prevent your bag from slipping upwards in the event of
an avalanche.
How to adjust the trigger handle (3)
Step 1: Three settings are available. Ideally, the handle
should be at chest level.
Step 2 : Rotate the handle up and slide it off the strap ring to
change its height.
Step 3 : Position the handle at the correct height.
DECATHLON SE cannot be held responsible for damage
or loss caused by incorrect settings, improper installation or
inappropriate adjustment.
6- INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
A- PRELIMINARY SYSTEMATIC CHECKS
To ensure the correct functioning of the WEDZE AIRBAG 30
system, you should carry out the following checks:
● Unfold the AIRBAG before the start of each season, or
at least once a year, or if the bag has been exposed to
moisture. Check its condition and, if necessary, dry it
completely before folding it.
