6. Allow the solvent to evaporate.
7. Perform steps 1-5 in reverse order to complete the process. These include:
a) lower the water bath bowl
b) stop rotation of the flask
c) open the fill valve to equalize the pressure
d) stop the vacuum pump
e) turn off the water bath
8. Recover the solvent from the receiving flask (12) and the non-volatile
substance from the rotating flask (6). Depending on model:
• Model SBS-RV-5000: Open the drain valve (14) to allow the solvent to flow
out.
• Model SBS-RV-2000: Loosen the screw of the clip (11) securing the receiving
flask (12), then while holding the flask, disengage the clip and remove the flask
and its contents.
Vacuum
If no vacuum is generated in the system despite the operation of the
vacuum pump, check that all connections are sealed and that the vacuum
pump has no leaks or damage.
Refilling the rotary flask
Liquids should be added to the flask through a flexible tube connected to the fill
valve (10) using vacuum systems.
The rotary flask (6) can be filled to a maximum of half its capacity.
The substance in the rotary flask can be refilled while the instrument is in
operation, but in this case the following steps must be taken:
a) turn off the pump,
b) stop heating,
c) when evaporation is complete, slowly open the delivery valve to prevent
backflow.
Heating
• The temperature control range for the water bath is 0-99°C.
• Due to thermal inertia, the actual water temperature is 3 degrees higher than
the set temperature. It is possible to change the value setting: for example, if the
water temperature needed is 40 degrees, set it to 38 degrees.
• To determine the exact actual water temperature, measure directly with a
thermometer.
