► Only use the protective welding visor if breathing air is available.
CAUTION
Risk of eye damage or burns!
► If the ADF does not go dark the first time an arc occurs, cease welding work
immediately.
► Check serviceability.
► Set light sensitivity as necessary.
CAUTION
Risk of cancer or birth defects due to insufficient ventilation of the work
environment!
During welding, chemicals may be contained in the dust that could cause
cancer or birth defects.
► Ensure adequate ventilation of the work environment.
4.1
Preparations for use
1. Check serviceability.
● Replace damaged parts and scratched protective screens.
● Clean protective screens and soiled photosensors of the ADF.

Welding Visor with ADF 5-13
● Ensure that the receptacle is tightly fitted with the ADF and the seal on
the ADF is secure.
2. Adjust the protective welding visor to the correct size (figures A and B).
3. When using the protective welding visor for the first time, remove the
transport foil from the external protective screen and the inside of the ADF.
4. Set the light sensitivity:
a. Set the control dial for light sensitivity to HI position (maximum light
sensitivity).
b. Slowly turn the control dial for light sensitivity counterclockwise until the
ADF no longer turns dark.
5. Set the delay time from dark to light (0.1 to 0.9 s) if necessary. Depending
on whether you would like to weld or grind, set the weld/grind mode switch
to the corresponding position.
6. In weld mode, select the darkening stage as defined by EN 379 (see
"Technical data", page 17).
7. Connect the protective welding visor with the respiratory protective device.
8. Put on eye and ear protection.
9. Switch on the respiratory protective device and make sure that breathing air
enters the protective welding visor.
10. Put on the protective welding visor and close.
11. Check the position of the protective welding visor and ensure the following:
The face cuff is fitted below the chin and the head cover along the back
of the head.
The support ring lies completely within the sealing area.
The protective welding visor is attached tightly to the head.
12. Tighten the drawstring.
4.2
After use
1. Fold up the visor.
2. Remove the protective welding visor.
3. Switch off the respiratory protective device.
4. If necessary, clean the protective welding visor (see "Cleaning and
disinfecting", page 16).
