Finding the Right Flange Fit for You
Using the right
ComfortFit® Flange size is
important for a safe and
comfortable pumping
session. Using the right
flange size will reduce
potential nipple damage
and increase your milk
expression.
The Smartpump 3.0
comes with 3 different
ComfortFit® flange sizes:
25 mm, 28 mm, and
30.5 mm.
To find the right size for
you, first hold the flange up
to your chest and center
it on each of your nipples
to see if the nipples fit
comfortably in the flange
tunnel. If the nipples touch the sides of the tunnel, you'll want to try the next size up. If
there's a lot of space around the nipples, you'll want to size down. Make sure to measure
your nipples and not your areolas. As you pump, the nipples should continue to move
freely and comfortably within the flange tunnel.
You know you've found the right flange when:
Only your nipple and some of your areola enters the tunnel during pumping.
Your nipple moves freely within the tunnel during pumping, without rubbing.
Your breasts feel soft and lighter after pumping.
Your milk supply improves or holds steady.
Nipple shape can change – even during one pumping session, and size may change
over time. You may also need different flange sizes for each nipple.
Do NOT pump while pregnant. Pumping during pregnancy may trigger labor.
