CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
For maximum efficiency and performance, your water dispenser requires cleaning on a regular basis (ie. every 6 months).
Regular cleaning will prevent potential growth of bacteria and will maintain a hygienic environment. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
Cleaning The Waterways
1.
Drain the reservoir. See section "Draining The Reservoirs" below.
2.
Using a clean container, mix 8 cups (2 L) of white vinegar with 8 cups (2 L) of hot water. Pour the mixture into the water
reservoir. Place a container under the dispensing spigots and take 1/2 cup from the cold water faucet then take 1/2 cup from
the hot water faucet. This will help clean the water lines. Allow the cleaning solution to sit inside the dispenser for 20 minutes.
During this time, remove the no-spill device by rotating it counterclockwise and lifting it off. Pull baffle out of cold water
reservoir. Wash parts with warm soapy water, rinse and dry. Set aside.
3.
Place a container under the dispensing spigots and press both the hot and cold dispensing buttons until the cleaning
solution stops flowing. Discard cleaning solution.
4.
Using a container, drain the remaining cleaning solution from the internal reservoirs by unscrewing the drain cap and
removing the drain plug from the drain valve located at the back of the unit. Discard the cleaning solution.
5.
Re-install the drain plug and drain cap on the unit and flush the system using 8 cups (2 L) clean water (no cleaning solution).
Follow the same steps outlined in #2. Place container under drain valve and remove drain cap and drain plug, allowing rinse
water to drain. When the rinse water stops flowing, re-install the drain plug and drain cap and tighten. The cleaning process is
now complete.
Cleaning the Outside of the Water Dispenser
The outside of the dispenser may be wiped clean with a cleaning solution product or a mild soap and water mixture and a soft cloth.
Never use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and then dry surfaces.
Cleaning the Drip Tray
To remove the drip tray (Fig.1), pull the tray forward, dislodging it from the guides. Drain and clean.
The drip tray should be emptied and cleaned regularly to remove spotting and any mineral deposits. Clean with cleaning solution or a
mild soap and water mixture. For tough deposits, add vinegar and let it soak until the deposits come loose.
Then wash, rinse and dry throughly. Replace the grill on the drip tray and slide it onto the guides.
Cleaning the Condenser
Vacuum or sweep away the dust from the condenser coils at the back of the dispenser. This will improve cooling and efficiency.
Draining the Reservoirs
Drain reservoirs before and after cleaning and when the dispenser is not used for a long period of time.
IMPORTANT! Unplug the dispenser before performing this procedure.
Dispense hot water until temperature drops to a safe level to avoid the risk of scalding.
1.
Remove the water bottle.
2.
Dispense water from the hot faucet into a container until no water comes out.
3.
Dispense water from the cold faucet into a container until no water comes out.
4.
Place a container beneath the drain valve on the back of the dispenser.
IMPORTANT: Collect the water in a container, not the drip tray.
5.
Remove the cap and plug from the drain valve, allowing the water to flow into the container.
6.
Replace the cap and plug.
7.
Replace the water bottle.
NOTE: To conserve energy when not using the dispenser for a long period of time,
unplug the dispenser and drain the reservoirs (See Draining the Reservoirs).
Follow Initial Product Cleaning Procedures upon return and startup of the dispenser.
