operation always hold the equipment fi rmly in
both hands.
Safety information for augers
Special safety measures are required when
working with this powered equipment because
the auger bit has sharp edges and generates high
torque and sometimes high speeds of rotation.
This powered equipment is allowed to be
operated only by persons who are rested, in
good health and in good physical condition.
Persons who for health reasons are not
allowed to strain themselves should ask their
doctor whether working with such powered
equipment is advisable.
It is prohibited to work with such powered
equipment after consuming alcohol, after
taking medication that has a negative effect
on reactions, or after taking drugs.
Use this powered equipment – with matching
auger bits – only for drilling holes in the earth.
This powered equipment is not allowed to be
used for other purposes.
Before you begin to drill, make sure that there
are no cables or pipes (e.g. for gas, water or
electricity) at the points where you want to
drill:
- contact your local supply companies for
information
- if in doubt, use detectors or test holes to
check for cables, pipes, etc.
Proceed with special care in soil containing
lots of stones or roots. If the auger bit
becomes stuck in the hole (due to roots
or stones), the equipment will move in the
opposite direction to the drilling direction!
Hold the powered equipment securely and
be prepared to handle sudden jolts – drill only
with low forward pressure.
Use only auger bits or accessories that
have been approved for this powered
equipment by the manufacturer or that are
technically identical. Otherwise there is a
risk of accidents or damage to the powered
equipment.
Make sure you are always in a firm and safe
standing position.
If danger threatens or if an emergency arises,
switch off the equipment immediately.
No other persons are allowed within the work
area. Keep a safe distance away from other
people – risk of accidents!
Beware of slippery ground, wet ground,
snow, ice, slopes and uneven terrain – risk of
slipping!

Beware of obstacles: Tree stumps and roots –
risk of tripping!
Take a break before you get tired and
exhausted – risk of accidents!
Work calmly and methodically – work only in
conditions of good light and visibility. Work
with caution, without endangering others.
How to free the auger bit if it gets stuck in the
drilled hole:
-
Stop the motor immediately.
-
Turn the entire auger counterclockwise to the
left until the auger bit becomes free again.
WARNING! Positioning the auger bit with a fi tted
shaft extension exposes the user to a higher risk
of accident because the auger is then at chest
height and can no longer be controlled reliably.
For the same reason the shaft extension must be
removed before the auger bit is pulled completely
out of the drilled hole.
Do not fi t the shaft extension until the drilled hole
reaches the full length of the auger bit.
If the powered equipment is exposed to
unacceptable stress (e.g. from being struck
or dropped), be sure to check that it is safe to
operate before you use it again.
Touch the auger bit and the auger spindle
only when the battery has been removed and
the auger bit has stopped moving – risk of
injury!
To change the auger bit, remove the battery –
risk of injury!
Check at short intervals that the auger bits
are in perfect condition, and check them
immediately if they display any notable
changes! Replace damaged or blunt auger
bits and blades immediately.
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
Explanation of the symbols used (see Fig. 8)
1. Danger! - Read the operating instructions to
reduce the risk of injury.
2. Caution! Wear ear-muff s. The impact of
noise can cause damage to hearing.
3. Caution! Wear safety goggles. Sparks
generated during working or splinters, chips
and dust emitted by the device can cause
loss of sight.
4. Wear suitable, tight-fi tting protective clothing
when working.
5. Long hair should always be held in a hair net
(or in a cap)!
