MMA welding
Arc welding is also called the MMA method ("Manual Arc Welding") and is the oldest and most versatile method of
arc welding.
The MMA method uses a covered electrode, consisting of a metal core covered with a sheath. An electric arc is
created between the end of the electrode and the workpiece. The arc is ignited by touching the tip of the electrode to
the workpiece. The welder feeds the electrode as it fuses into the workpiece so as to maintain a constant arc length
and at the same time moves its fused end along the welding line. The melting electrode coating releases protective
gases that protect the liquid metal from the influence of the surrounding atmosphere. It then solidifies and forms a
slag on the surface of the pool, which protects the coagulating joint from cooling down too quickly and being affected
by harmful environmental influences.
To start: select the MMA welding mode.
Gas post flow ("Post Flow")
Time of gas flow at the end of welding after the arc
disappears.
Welding current
Welding current selection.
Current value in the "Hot start" function
Function that facilitates welding. When striking the
arc, the welding current is temporarily increased in
order to heat the material and the electrode at the
point of contact. It is also to properly shape the
penetration and weld face at the initial stage of
welding.
