3. Safety
3.2 Intended use
The model GPD-1000 gas presence detector is suitable for the locating and
quantification of leaks on equipment filled with SF₆ or alternative gas.
Operational safety is thus only ensured when using the instrument for the detection of
SF₆ and alternative gas. The instrument must never come into contact with aggressive
gases or liquids.
Only use the instrument in applications that lie within its technical performance limits
(e.g. max. ambient temperature, material compatibility, ...).

This instrument is not permitted to be used in hazardous areas!
The model GPD-1000 gas presence detector has been designed and built solely for the
intended use described here, and may only be used accordingly.
The technical specifications contained in these operating instructions must be
observed. Improper handling or operation of the instrument outside of its technical
specifications requires the instrument to be taken out of service immediately and
inspected by an authorised WIKA service engineer.
The manufacturer shall not be liable for claims of any type based on operation contrary
to the intended use.
3.3 Improper use

Injuries through improper use
Improper use of the instrument can lead to hazardous situations and
injuries.

Refrain from unauthorised modifications to the instrument.

Do not use the instrument within hazardous areas.
In particular, avoid the intake of any type of liquid. This will
damage the sensor.
Any use beyond or different to the intended use is considered as improper use.
