START UP
1. Press control knob to start grill.
2. Open grill lid and starter tray.
• The safety switch will prevent the fan from
running when lid is open.
• Remove grate and heat deflector.
• Charcoal and ash remaining from previous
cooks should be discarded.
3. Fill bowl with charcoal briquettes or lump charcoal.
• Approximately 10 lbs. of charcoal briquettes.
• Approximately 8 lbs. of lump charcoal.
• Do NOT use fast light charcoal or lighting fluid.
4. Place fire starter cube(s) or tumbleweeeds in
starter tray and light.
• Push starter tray in.
• Follow directions on fire starter cube package.
CAUTION
• Use a food safe fire starter block.
• Wear protective gloves and use caution.
• Light with lighter or match stick.
Note: Fire starter will be placed in the
starter tray.
5. KEEP GRILL LID OPEN!
• Wait 4-5 minutes after lighting the fire starter to
ensure the charcoal has ignited.
• Set the grill temperature.
6. Close the grill lid.
• The fan will be active.
• Keep the top vent open.
• Wait for grill to reach desired temperature.
• Adjust the top vent but do not close all the way.

OPERATION
To avoid flashback, always use vent function
prior to opening grill lid.
1. Plug meat probe into controller
2. Feed the cord and probe between the lid and
base

1. Turn controller off by depressing the control
knob for 3 seconds.
2. Close grill lid and vent.
• The grill will starve the charcoal of oxygen.
The unused charcoal can be saved for the
next cook.
Method 1:
Mix wood chunks with charcoal.
• Note: Never use more than 1/2 lbs. of wood
chunks throughout the charcoal basket.
Method 2:
Place wood chips in the starter tray. The
hot charcoal embers will fall on the wood
chips causing it to burn slow,and release
smoke flavor into the grill.
• Note: Never use more than 1/4 lb. of wood
chips in the starter tray. Only chips should
be used in the tray. Chunks can be mixed with
charcoal.
