• I nspect the battery regularly to ensure that the electrolyte level does not fall below the surface
of the battery plates.
• T op up the battery using distilled water. Do not overfill. Refer to the battery manufacturer's
recommendations for more information.
Battery safety
• Ensure that the battery is well ventilated when recharging.
• Avoid temperatures higher than 50°C (120°F).
• Ensure that the battery is not exposed to a naked flame or sparks.
Building an electric fence and an earth system
Select a suitable location for the earthing (grounding) system:
·
t his place has to be at least 10 m from other earth systems (e.g. telephone and mains power).
·
a way from animals or traffic that could interfere with the installation.
·
easy to control for service purposes.
·
ideally has damp soil (a shady, sumpy location).
The earthing system does not have to be directly next to the energiser. Use PATURA earth stakes.
Use insulated high voltage cable and earth clips to connect the earth stakes in line with the fence
earth terminal of the energiser. Make sure to remove enough of the insulation to have good con-
tact between wire and earth stake. Particularly in dry sudsoil conditions, additional or longer earth
stakes are required.
