9. Operation
Control panel (Fig. L)
• On switch (9): Tilt the button upwards; the shred-
der starts.
• Off switch (9): Tilt the button downwards; the
shredder stops.
• Reset-switch (7): Overload protection
Working with the shredder
Alternating with branches, shred withered gar-
den waste and branches that have been stored
several days to prevent the shredder from be-
coming blocked.
• Connect the shredder to the power supply.
• Turn the shredder on by using the on switch (9).
• Fill shredding material into the feed hopper and it
will be drawn in.
• Make sure the shredder has completely shred-
ded the input material before adding new.
• Do not use your hands to push in more shredding
material. Use the special pushing device (c) or oth-
er shredding material.
• When you have finished working with the shredder,
turn it off and disconnect it from the mains.
Changing the knife
Await complete standstill of cutter. Before work-
ing on cutter, remove mains plug.
The reversible steel blade can be used on both sides
and can be replaced quickly and easily.
Caution when working: There is a danger to fingers
and hands. It is extremly important to use only well
sharpened knives.
So please note:
A blunt knife impairs cutting performance and makes
work difficult.
A sure sign of a blunt knife is a reduction in automatic
pull. Engine heats up, overload protection triggers.
Open the housing (Fig. H, I)
• First open the housing by releasing the locking
screw (9). Then fold the upper section (2) of the
housing outward (Fig. H)
• Then remove the aluminium cover (18) by releas-
ing the eight Phillips screws (Fig. I).
Clean the countersunk screw (Fig. K)
• With either a small screwdriver or a nail, remove
debris from the inner hexagon socket of the coun-
tersunk screw (20).
Blade (19) removal
• The T-handle pin-key has to completely reach into
the inner hexagon socket in order to unscrew the
screw.
• The blade, as well as the blade surface area of the
cutting disc, must be cleaned of hardened debris
material.
Sharpening the blade
• In resharpening the blade (19), pay close attention
to maintaining an even blade-diameter so as to
avoid an imbalanced blade.
• In resharpening the blade, a maximum of only 2
mm may be removed from each cutting edge.
Install Blade
• Upon reinstallation, the blade disc (19) must be
mounted exactly as before.
• In mounting the blade, lubricate the flat head
screws (20) and tighten well.
• Tighten the countersunk screw firmly.
• Mount the aluminium cover.
• Use the locking screw to close the housing
• The device is ready for operation.
Overload protection
In the event of overload, e.g. due to branches that are
too thick, the equipment automatically switches off.
After a short cooling period (approximately 5 min-
utes), press the reset switch (7).
10. Electrical connection
The electrical motor installed is connected and
ready for operation. The connection complies
with the applicable VDE and DIN provisions.
The customer's mains connection as well as
the extension cable used must also comply with
these regulations.
Damaged electrical connection cable
The insulation on electrical connection cables is of-
ten damaged.
This may have the following causes
• Passage points, where connection cables are
passed through windows or doors.
• Kinks where the connection cable has been im-
properly fastened or routed.
• Places where the connection cables have been cut
due to being driven over.
• Insulation damage due to being ripped out of the
wall outlet.
• Cracks due to the insulation ageing.
Such damaged electrical connection cables must not
be used and are life-threatening due to the insulation
damage.
