10. Make sure that doors or other objects do not block the path of smoke to
the detector.
11. Install additional detectors in the living room, dining room, family room,
attic, utility room and storage rooms in addition to the bedrooms.
12. Install smoke detectors as close as possible to the centre of the ceiling. If
this is not practical, install the detector on the ceiling, not closer than 10
cm (4 inches) from each wall or corner.
13. If ceiling installation is not possible, and wall installation is permitted
according to local and state regulations, install the detectors on the wall at
a distance of 10 ~ 15 cm (4 to 6 inches) from the ceiling, see Figure 4.
14. If some of your rooms have sloped, pointed or gabled ceilings, try to install
the detectors at 0.9 meter (3 feet) measured horizontally from the highest
point of the ceiling.
