This notice must be translated (possibly by the retailer) into the language of the country of use.
For your safety, strictly comply with the instructions for use, verification, maintenance and storage.
KRATOS SAFETY cannot be held liable for any direct or indirect accident occurring following use other than that provided for in these instructions;
do not use this equipment beyond its limits!
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE AND PRECAUTIONS:
The device is simple to use, small, light, and robust and does not require any particular maintenance. User safety relies on the effectiveness of the
equipment and full understanding of the safety instructions contained in this leaflet. Product markings should be checked periodically for legibility.
1/ Installation-Use in accordance with EN353-2, sliding fall arrester: A sliding fall arrester (FA 20 103 00A & B) on flexible anchor line is a piece
of personal protection equipment. When the user is moving up/down, it freely slides along an anchor line. In the event of a fall, the device stops the fall
instantly on the anchor line. After a fall, NEVER try to hold on to the arrester as you may unblock it and fall again!
A/ FA 20 103 00A: Open the rope grab by rotating the upper plate, place the anchor line into the rope grab between the two cams, while respecting
the direction of use of the rope grab (arrow pointing up), close the upper plate and lock the unit via the connector. When used while moving up/down on
a vertical plane, position 1.1 must be activated. When you use the FA 20 103 00A fall arrester in static mode on an inclined plane, locked position 1.2
must be activated (see also table below).
B/ FA 20 103 00B: Open the device by pressing the black
button, release the cam, insert the anchor line while respecting
the direction of use of the rope grab (arrow pointing up),
reposition the cam and lock the unit with the button axis.
The sliding fall arrester will be connected directly to an
attachment point at the chest of an EN361 harness (A or 2x
A/2) using a connector (EN362).
The anchor line is linked to an anchorage point (EN795) via a
connector (EN362).
A flexible anchor line should always be weighted by a
counterweight.
The anchorage point for the anchor line should be located above the user (R>12kN - EN795:2012 or R>10kN - EN795:1996). The sliding fall arresters
must always be used directly below the anchor point (3).

IT IS IMPERATIVE TO USE THE FALL ARRESTER ON THE SPECIFIC ANCHOR LINE FOR WHICH IT HAS BEEN CERTIFIED.
2/ Installation-Use in accordance with EN358, work-positioning lanyard:
A work-positioning lanyard is not suitable for fall arrest purpose; therefore it must be used in combination with a fall arrest system or with collective
means.
A/ FA 40 906 50: The adjuster/rope grab is supplied mounted onto its rope (Kernmantle Polyamide diam. 12mm).
Connect the end of the rope via its connector onto the side D-ring of a belt, and connect the adjuster/rope grab via its connector onto the other side
D-ring of the belt. As the adjuster/rope grab must be handled by the user, it is important to determine whether he/she is right or left-handed during the
installation! The adjuster/rope grab can also be connected to an anchorage point (EN795) and to a ventral point in the event of a "simple" use; as this
type of use is less stable, it should only be used as a last resort (or as a work positioning lanyard). In this mode of operation, locked position 1.2 must
be activated.
Length adjustment: To come closer to the structure, release the pressure on the rope and pull on the rope towards the structure. To move away from the
structure, release the pressure on the rope and gently press the top of the mobile cam. The lanyard should be adjusted to prevent free falls of more than
0.60 m. Check the adjuster/rope grab position regularly during use.
B/ FA 20 103 00B: Open the device by pressing the black button, release the cam, insert the rope (Kernmantle Polyamide 11 mm) while respecting the
direction of use of the rope grab (arrow pointing up), reposition the cam and lock the unit with the button axis. Connect the end of the rope via a connector
(EN 362) onto the side D-ring of a belt, and connect the adjuster/rope grab via its connector onto the other side D-ring of the belt. As the adjuster/rope
grab must be handled by the user, it is important to determine whether he/she is right or left-handed during the installation! The adjuster/rope grab can
also be connected to an anchorage point (EN795) and to a ventral point in the event of a "simple" use; as this type of use is less stable, it should only be
used as a last resort (or as a work positioning lanyard).
3/General requirements:
This kind of device must be assigned to a single user (it can only be used by one person at a time).
Sharp edges, small diameter structures and corrosion should be avoided as they may affect the performance of the system (2); or they should be
adequately protected. Ensure that the general set-up limits swinging in the event of a fall, and that the work is performed to limit the risk and the height
of a fall. For safety reasons and before each use, make sure that in the event of a fall there is no obstacle obstructing the normal functioning of the system.
Before and during use, we recommend that you take all the necessary precautions for a safe rescue should it be needed.
This equipment is for the sole use of people trained, skilled and in good health, or under the supervision of a trained and skilled person. Warning! Certain
medical conditions may affect user safety; if in doubt, consult your doctor.
Be aware of the hazards that could reduce the performance of your equipment, and therefore the user's safety, if exposed to extreme temperatures (<
-30°C or > 50°C), prolonged exposure to the elements (UV rays, humidity), chemical agents, electrical constraints, twisting of the fall arrest system
during use, sharp edges, friction or cutting, etc.
Before each use, check that the locking system is in working order (manual test). If there is any doubt as to the condition of the device (traces of
oxidation) or after a fall (deformation), it must not be reused and/or must be returned to the manufacturer or a competent person appointed by the
manufacturer. The same applies to the anchorage line. Pay close attention to the risk of friction (which generates heat) as it is likely to seriously damage
the anchor line. The connector must also be checked.
It is not allowed to do any repair on the product, do not remove, add or replace any component of the product.
The clearance must be at least: 3m beneath the feet of the user.
