@TAPE 1/DAT PLAY/REC Jacks
These jacks are used for the connection of
a tape deck (or DAT), Connect the out-
put (LINE OUT) jacks of the tape deck to
the PLAY
jacks and
connect
the input
(LINE IN) jacks of the deck to the REC
jacks,
@ TAPE 2 PLAY/REC Jacks
These jacks are used for the connection of a
second
tape
deck.
Connect
the
output
(LINE OUT) jacks of the tape deck to the
PLAY jacks and connect the input (LINE
IN) jacks of the deck to the REC jacks.
@ SPEAKERS Terminals
Two pairs of speakers can be connected to
these terminals. Connect the main pair to
the system A terminals, and connect the
second pair to the system B terminals. You
can select system
A and/or B with the
SPEAKERS select buttons on the front
panel.
Connect the speaker cables to the SPEAK-
ERS A/B terminals as shown in the diagram.
e\nsert the stripped end of the cord into
the hole in the connector and turn the
knob clockwise to tighten it. After tighten-
ing, check that the cord is held securely by
pulling it gently,
CAUTION:
When
one
pair of speakers
is used, use
speakers with an impedance of 4 ohms or
more. When two pairs of speakers are used,
be sure to use speakers with an impedance
of 8 ohms or more.

@ AC Cord
Plug this into an AC wall receptacle. The
correct voltage for operating your unit is
printed on the rear panel.
Operations
Simplified Operating Procedure
When operating your unit for the first time,
follow these simplified instructions.
1, Set the VOLUME control to the "0"
position.
2. Set the LOUDNESS
button to OFF
and the BALANCE control to "0".
3. Set the SOURCE DIRECT button to
ON.
4. Set the BALANCE
controls to its
center (click) position,
5. Set the REC SELECTOR tothe "OFF"
position,
6. Press the POWER switch to turn the
power ON.
7, Select the required input source by
setting the INPUT SELECTOR to the
required position.
8. Select the speaker system to be used
with the SPEAKERS select buttons.
9, Start playing the source component,
and gradually turn up the volume to
the required level with the VOLUME
control.
10. Press the SOURCE DIRECT button to
OFF (the indicator above it goes out)
and adjust the tone as required with
the BASS and TREBLE tone controls.
When
listening to music
with
the
volume turned down, if the LOUD-
NESS
button is pressed, the musical
effect will be enhanced.

refer to
the owner's manuals of the components.
Listening to Radio Broadcasts
1, Turn the power of the tuner connected
to the A-X3030/A-X1030 to ON.
2 Press the POWER switch of the A-X3030/
A-X1030 to turn the power ON.
3. Set the INPUT SELECTOR
switch to
the TUNER
position. (Refer to the
owner's manual of the tuner connected.)
4. Adjust the volume and tone with the
VOLUME, BASS and TREBLE controls,
as required,
Listening to Records or Compact
Discs
Turn the power of the turntable or CD
player
connected
to
the A-X3030/
A-X1030 ON.
. Press the POWER switch of the A-X3030/
A-X1030 to turn the power ON,
3. Set the INPUT SELECTOR switch to
either PHONO or CO position,
4. Operate the turntable or CD player to
start playback. (Refer to the owner's
manual of the turntable or CD player.)

5. Adjust the volume and tone with the
VOLUME, BASS and TREBLE controls,
as required.
Tape Playback
1, Turn the power of the tape deck con-
nected to the A-X3030/A-X1030 ON,
2. Pressthe POWER switch of the A-X3030/
A-X1030 to turn the power ON.
3. Set the INPUT SELECTOR
switch to
either TAPE
1/DAT or TAPE 2 posi-
tion,
4. Operate the tape deck to start playback.
(Refer to the owner's manual of the tape
deck.)
5, Adjust the volume and tone with the
VOLUME, BASS and TREBLE controls,
as required,
Tape Recording
1, Turn the power of the tape deck used
for recording ON.
2. Press the POWER switch of the A-X3030/
A-X1030 to turn the power ON,
3. Set the REC SELECTOR switch to the
position corresponding to the source to
be recorded: TUNER, CD, PHONO, etc,
4, Set the INPUT SELECTOR
switch to
the position corresponding to the source
to be recorded.
. Start playing back the program source
to be recorded.
6. Operate
the
tape deck for recording,
adjusting the recording level appropriate-
ly. (Refer to the owner's manual of the
tape deck used for recording for details.)

Recording Tapes While Listening
to Another Source
With the A-X3030/A-X1030,
two different
sources can be selected at the same time,
one of which can be heard from the speakers
(or headphones), the other of which can be
recorded.
For
instance,
while
you
are
listening to a compact disc or phonograph
record, you can record another source such
as an FM broadcast or perform tape-to-tape
dubbing.
To do this, the source to be heard from the
speakers is selected with the INPUT SELEC-
TOR switch while the source to be recorded
(or copied)
is selected
using the REC
SELECTOR
switch, When this is done,
perform recording as described above, To
monitor
the sound
being recorded
(or
copied), use headphones connected to the
tape deck being used for recording,
