1. INTRODUCTION.
We appreciate the trust placed in our brand and we hope that the welding equipment you have just
purchased will be of great use to you.
The PROMIG170 is a multifunction welding machine (MIG-MAG, MMA, TIG), easy to use and suitable
for both the professional and the hobbyist. Before using or performing any maintenance work on the
machine, please read this manual carefully and keep it for future reference.
1.1. PROPERTIES.
The PROMIG170, although designed to work primarily in the MIG-MAG function, is suitable for a
variety of different purposes and the ability to use a suitable extension cord facilitates multi-site
operation. It is also suitable for use with electric power generators.
1.2. ON WELDING.
In addition to the welding machine, the welding result is influenced by the part being welded and the
welding environment. Therefore, the recommendations in this manual should be followed.
By way of example, during welding in the MIG-MAG function, electric current flows through the nozzle
of the wire welding gun and through it to the part to be welded. The work clamp, connected to the
work piece, guides the current back to the machine, thus closing the necessary circuit. In order obtain
a steady and continuous flow of welding current, it must be ensured that the ground clamp and the
piece to be welded are correctly connected and that the point of contact between them is clean,
without paint, lubricants or rust.
Shielding gas should be used during welding to prevent air from mixing with the weld pool. Carbon
dioxide or a mixture of carbon dioxide and argon is suitable as a shielding gas. It is not necessary to use
a shielding gas if you weld with a self-shielded wire, also known as an animated wire.
2. GENERAL SAFETY RULES.
WARNING: These instructions have been developed to facilitate the proper installation,
operation and maintenance of the equipment. Read the entire manual carefully before using the
equipment, in order to understand its features and reduce risks during its operation. Make sure to read
and understand all instructions, and to pay attention to all warnings and precautions throughout this
manual. Failure to follow the instructions contained in this manual may result in electric shock, fire
and/or serious personal injury.
2.1. WORKING AREA.
• Keep your work area clean and well lit. Messy tables and dark areas may cause accidents.
• Do not use the machine in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids,
gases or dust. The electric tool generates sparks that may cause fires.
• Make sure observers, children and visitors are away from the machine while you are working with
it. Distractions can make you lose control.
KEEP THESE INSTRUCTIONS.
