CALIBRATING THE PROBE
C
1. Remove the standard on the underside of the roughness measuring device ST2.
2. Read off the Rz nominal value on the standard.
3. Place the roughness measuring device ST2 on the underside such that the probe tip is vertical.
4. Place the standard such that the entire traversing length is within the field with the specified roughness.
5. Set the height adjustment of the roughness measuring device ST2 to the required height.
»
The probe must be aligned parallel to the standard.
6. In the basic view, tap the calibrate key or "Calibrate" in the menu.
7. Select the calibration method.
»
If using the standard supplied with delivery, select "Calibrate Rz".
8. Enter the nominal value for the standard into the "Nominal value" field.
9. Select the desired traversing length in the "Measuring conditions" field and tap "OK" to confirm.
»
With "Standard", the traversing length is determined automatically in accordance DIN EN ISO 4288 or ASME B46.1
depending on the nominal value. Half a pre-travel and post-travel is added to this. With "Lt = 15.0 mm Lc = 2.5 mm"
and "Lt = 4.8 mm Lc = 0.8 mm", the selected traversing length (incl. half a pre-travel/post-travel) is used for measure-
ment.

Traversing length has no pre-travel/
post-travel.
After the measurement, the profile is
automatically filtered depending to the
traversing length with a cutoff
wavelength of 2.5 μm or 8.0 μm.
Ls filter with fixed value.
Ls filter is switched off.
Standard-conforming cutoff (as per ISO,
JIS, ANSI/ASME).
Next shortest cutoff.

device ST2 is switched on.
Drive unit of roughness measuring
device ST2 is switched off (e.g. if meas-
urement object is moved by an external
drive).
External drive must be set to selected
measuring speed.

unit moves the probe across the meas-
urement object.
