Front Panel Controls
1. POWER SWITCH
To turn the power ON depress the POWER switch and depress it again to turn off for the separate operation.
If no sound from either channel after the Amplifier is switched ON, check whether AC power cord is acciden-
tally disconnected, SPEAKER swtich is accidentally depressed in its OFF positionor TAPE switch has
been accidentally depressed in its MONITOR position.
2. HEADPHONE JACK
Stereo headphones can be plugged into this jack for private listening or monitoring. For private listening, set
the SPEAKERS
switch to OFF. Headphone impedance should be between 8 and 2;000 ohms. Best results
between 200 and 400 ohms.
3. BASS CONTROL
Modifies the low frequency sound of left and right channels as much as + 10 dB. Set this control at a suitable
position for your taste and room acoustics.
4. TREBLE CONTROL
Modifies the high frequency sound of left and right channels as much as + 10 GB. Set this control at a suitable
position for your taste and room acoustics.
5. BALANCE CONTROL
For balancing the relative sound volume of the left and right channel speakers. Clockwise rotation reduces
the volume from the left speaker, counterclockwise rotation reduces the volume from the right speaker.
6. SPEAKER SELECTOR SWITCHES: MAIN AND SURROUND
MAIN switch: Depressing this switch activates the speakers connected to the MAIN speaker terminals on the
rear panel as the normal stereo system.
SURROUND
switch: Depressing this switch activates the speakers connected to the SURROUND
speaker
terminals on the rear panel. The surround speakers are connected as the R-L modein listen-
ing, so no sounds from the surround speakers in the monoral or center-positioned sounds,
but in effective as much as the sounds are shifted toward the left or right channel. By doing
SO, you can enjoy the surrounded music like you sit down in the middle of a band or an orches-
tra. For the private listening by the headphones, set both speakers' switches to OFF position.
7. TAPE MONITOR SWITCH
In recording mode with your compatible Tape Deck, this button can be used as a recording quality check.
That is, it is possible to hear whether the recording is equivalent to the source being recorded by depressing
this switch repeatedly. In all other cases, leave this switch in MONITOR-OFF position.
