In case of not installing the UV sterilizer in the filter the flow cover (9) can be put aside as it will not be needed in the
filter.
Fig. 8. The filtration cartridges that are placed in foil should be unpacked from the disposable bags and poured into the
magazines. The magazines – now and during replacement of filtration media – can only be filled to the level of the internal
thickening "A".
CAUTION: It is not allowed to place too much of filtering material, otherwise the magazines (7) will not be precisely set
on each other.
Fig. 9. Rinse the filtration media (18), (19) and (20) in the magazines (7) under running water and place them subsequently
in the container (10). The recommended order of placing is shown in the table in subsection 3. Tilt the magazines handles
until resistance to conceal them inside of the magazines.
The bottom magazine will press on the flow cover (9) securing it in its place [only in case of using UV sterilizer].
Subsequent magazines should be places so that their bottom edge rests on the thickening of the magazine below ac-
cording to fig. 8.
Place the top magazine (7) containing the sponge (17) and the magazine cover (6) as the last one.
Fig. 10. Prior to placing the cover (4) verify that:
• main gasket (5) is placed in its groove
• impeller chamber cover (16) is placed on the pump chamber and screwed clockwise according to the arrow until resist-
ance
As long as the UV sterilizer will not be used in FZKN filter, an additional filtration element can be installed in its place.
For example: place a fitting intake strainer (28) on the "A" stub of the impeller chamber cover (16). Then put a proper size
sponge on it. The sponge can be purchased in stores carrying AQUAEL products.
Carefully place the complete cover (4) on the container (10) and secure it with all catches (8).
CAUTION: The proper way of fastening the catches: in pairs on the opposite sides of the cover (4).
5.4. Filter positioning and assembly of external elements
Fig. 11. Prior to allocation of a place for the filter, acquaintance with the content of the manual is recommended. The
filter should be placed in upright position, so that the difference between the water level in the aquarium and the level of
the filter base does not exceed 135 cm. The top filter surface should be located at least 10 cm below the aquarium water
level.
Fig. 12 - 13 – 14. Using the clamp bolt (30) mount stably the overflow pipes (29) to aquarium wall. The thickness of the
wall or the frame should not exceed 40mm.
The overflow pipes (29) can be mounted separately after unscrewing the clamp bolt (30).
Taking into consideration the placing of a filter and the overflow pipes (29) on the aquarium wall, the elastic conduits (1) can
be appropriately shortened. The hoses can be of different lengths, depending on the placing the filter in relation to aquarium.
The bottom ends of elastic conduits (1) should be put until resistance on the filter connector pipes – intake marked "IN"
and outlet marked "OUT", see figure 13 – and firmly secured with clamp nuts (2). The top ends of the conduits should be
connected to the external stubs of the overflow pipes (29) in the same way, also secure the ends of the conduits with the
clamp nuts (figure 12).
CAUTION: To ensure the hoses longevity, they should be guided in the straightest possible way from the filter to aquar-
ium, they should not be hung loosely, folded or looped (see figure 14). The ends should be cut straight.
Possible folds of elastic conduits can be straightened in warm water that will make them softer. The ends of the hoses can
also be softened in warm water to make the connecting easier.
To perform the actions described above it is not necessary to remove the control assembly (3). Nevertheless if one should want
to remove it to make the connecting of the conduits easier, it is possible. The manner of removal and installation of the control
assembly is described in subsection 7.1, see figure 18 and in subsection 7.4, see figures 24-25.
