6. The sterile scrub technician secures the lid by first hooking the bottom of the latch to the lid (See Figure 6). Then
push the top of the latch until it snaps into place (See Figure 7) ensuring the latch is fully engaged on the top of the
Sterile Transfer Battery Case.
7. The sterile scrub technician then attaches the battery case to the handpiece, ensuring the battery case is slid all the
way on until it "snaps" into place.
CLEANING and STERILIZATION
Cleaning and Sterilization Precautions
1. Follow universal precautions for protective apparel when handling and cleaning contaminated instruments.
2. Always remove battery case from handpiece prior to cleaning and sterilization.
3. Always clean battery case prior to sterilization.
4. Do not immerse battery.
5. Do not clean battery case with bleach, chlorine-based detergent, or caustic solutions that contain phenol.
Chlorine or bleach will corrode metal contacts.
6. Do not use battery cases while warm. Allow adequate time for cooling prior to use. Do not immerse in liquid
or cover with a damp cloth to cool. Cool by exposure to room temperature.
7. Do not sterilize battery pack or charging platform.
Cleaning
Precaution: Certain cleaners, presoak sprays or similar products available on the market that are designed to
remove organic soils are known to react negatively with plastic and/or metal. Therefore it is recommended that if
any of these products are used in the processing of ConMed Linvatec shrouds or battery cases, these items must
be thoroughly rinsed under running water for a minimum of 10 seconds to remove all residue before sterilization. Failure to
do so may result in degradation of the plastic and/or metal of these items causing premature cracking or breaking.
1. Open the battery case by pulling on the top of the latch. The latch will disengage and can then be opened.
2. Remove the battery from the battery case by pulling on the metal handle (See Figure 4).
3. Clean the battery case and shroud after each use. Use a lint-free cloth dampened with a pH-balanced detergent of
your choosing. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for the cleaning product selected and ensure that it is approved
for use on plastics. Failure to follow these guidelines may cause damage to the battery case or shroud. Remove all
traces of blood and bodily fluids, etc. Repeat as necessary until clean.
4. After disinfecting the battery case and shroud, thoroughly rinse under distilled or sterilized water. Note: Using tap
water can cause mineral deposits to collect on the contacts which may affect operation of the handpiece.
5. Clean the battery pack after each use. Clean the battery platform as needed. Use a lint-free cloth dampened with a
pH-balanced detergent of your choosing. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for the cleaning product selected
and ensure that it is approved for use on plastics. Failure to follow these guidelines may cause damage to the battery
pack or platform.
