62 I EN
RECOIL PRECAUTIONS
WARNING
Kickback may occur if the guide bar touches an object or when the wood closes in and makes the
saw chain in the cut locks. The contact of the tip, in some cases, can cause a reaction in the opposite
direction very quickly. If the saw chain is locked in at the top of the guide bar, it can be pushed
towards the operator. If the operator loses control of the saw, he can be severely injured.
•
Never rely solely on the safety devices built into your saw. As a chain saw, you should take
several steps to prevent accidents at work.
1.
Understanding the basic situations in which the reverse occurs, you can reduce or eliminate
the element of surprise. The shock caused by sudden movements of the machine is an
important factor in any accident.
2.
When the engine is running, hold the machine firmly with both hands: the right hand on
rear and the left hand on front handle. The thumbs and fingers of both hands should be
firmly around the handles. This helps you to control recoil.
3.
Make sure that there is no obstacle in the workspace. Never allow the tip of the guide bar
enter into contact with a log, branch or other obstacle that can be beaten by the operation
of the saw.
4.
When cutting, operate the engine at high rpm.
5.
Never work in an awkward position or higher than your shoulders.
6.
Follow the manufacturer's sharpening and maintenance of the chain saw.
7.
Use only guide bars and chains specified by the manufacturer or its equivalent.
