Care and Cleaning
CAUTION: Always use the handle to lift the pump. Never use the power cord to lift the pump. To avoid skin burns,
unplug the pump and allow time for it to cool after periods of extended use.
Do
1. Read all installation material with the unit.
2. Inspect unit for any visible damage caused by
shipping. Contact dealer if unit appears to be damaged.
3. Remove all debris from the basin. Be sure that the
pump will have a hard, level surface beneath it.
4. Be sure that the area is large enough to allow proper
clearance for the level control switch(es) to operate
properly.
5. Always Disconnect Pump From Power Source
Before Handling.
Always connect to a separately protected and properly
grounded circuit.
6. Install a check valve and a union in the discharge
line.
7. Review all applicable governing codes and verify that
the installation conforms to each of them.
8. Test pump immediately after installation to be sure
the system is working properly.
9. Consider a two-pump system with an alarm where an
installation may become overloaded or primary pump
failure would result in property damages.
10. Consider a D.C. Backup System where a sump or
dewatering pump is necessary for the prevention of
property damages from flooding due to A.C. power
disruptions, mechanical or electrical problems or
system overloading.
11. Inspect and test system for proper operations at
least every 3 months.
To clean a pump clogged with debris:
Before removing pump from basin for service, always disconnect electrical
power to pump and control switch.
Submerge pump in a disinfectant solution (bleach) for at least one hour
before disassembling pump.
Unscrew the bolts, and remove the volute.
Use a flathead screwdriver to hold the shaft, then turn the impeller counter
clockwise to release the impeller.
Remove debris from around the shaft and on/under the impeller.
Reassemble the pump.

1. DO NOT install on sand, gravel or dirt.
2. DO NOT ever cut, splice, or damage power
cord (Only splice in a watertight junction box).
3. DO NOT carry or lift pump by its power cord.
4. DO NOT use an extension cord.
5. DO NOT use a discharge pipe smaller than the
pump discharge.
6. DO NOT utilize this unit for pumping gasoline
or other hazardous liquids.
