4. Maintenance
Irrespective of the maintenance mentioned below, it is recommended to submit the cordless power drill/ screw
driver and accessories (e.g. rechargeable batteries, rapid chargers, power supply) at least once a year to an
authorized REMS customer service workshop for inspection and repeat test of electrical equipment. In
Germany, such periodic testing of electrical devices should be performed in accordance with DIN VDE 0701-
0702 and also prescribed for mobile electrical equipment according to the accident prevention rules DGUV,
regulation 3 "Electrical Systems and Equipment". In addition, the respective national safety provisions, rules
and regulations valid for the application site must be considered and observed.
4.1. Maintenance

Pull out the mains plug or remove the battery before doing maintenance work!
Keep the power tool clean. Blow out the soiled quick-clamping chuck (1).
Clean plastic parts (e.g. housing, batteries) only with the REMS CleanM (Art. No. 140119) or a mild soap and
a damp cloth. Do not use domestic cleaning agents. Do not use household cleaners. These often contain
chemicals which can damage the plastic parts. Never use petrol, turpentine, solvent or similar products for
cleaning plastic parts.
Make sure that liquids never get onto or inside the power tool. Never immerse the power tool in liquids.
4.2. Inspection/repair

Pull out the mains plug or remove the battery before carrying out maintenance or repair work! This
work may only be performed by qualifi ed personnel.
The gear of the REMS Helix 22 V VE is maintenance-free. It runs in a life-long grease fi lling and therefore
needs no lubrication.
5. Faults
5.1. Fault: Drive unit does not start.
Cause:
● Battery fl at or defective.
● Defective drive unit.
5.2. Fault: Drive unit stops during operation.
Cause:
● Drive unit overheated or overloaded.
● Battery fl at or defective.
● Torque set too low.
● Defective drive unit.
5.3. Fault: No or low drill thrust.
Cause:
● Blunt drill.
● Wrong speed set.
● Wrong direction of rotation set.
5.4. Fault: Bit slips out of screw head.
Cause:
● Wrong bit inserted.
● Defective bit or screw head.

Remedy:
● Charge the battery with the rapid charger or
change the battery.
● Have the drive unit checked/repaired by an
authorised REMS customer service workshop.
Remedy:
● Let the drive unit cool down or the drive unit is
unsuitable for the work to be carried out.
● Charge the battery with the rapid charger or
change the battery.
● See 2.3. Set the torque.
● Have the drive unit checked/repaired by an
authorised REMS customer service workshop.
Remedy:
● Sharpen or replace the drill.
● See 2.2. Set the speed.
● See 2.4. Change the direction of rotation.
Remedy:
● Change the bit.
● Change the bit or screw.
