Technical description
The PSF 160, 250, 315, 400 and 500 constitute a series of five
selfcooled welding guns of the swan-neck type. For gun con-
struction details and spare parts we refer to pictures and lists on
pages 18-19.
Swan neck
The swan necks can be fixed in different positions.

Loosen the plastic nut, then withdraw the swan neck some 20 mm
from the handle. Now the swan neck can be rotated to be secured
in any position out of eleven. There is a stop to prevent rotation of
the swan neck through more than 360°.

Contact tip
The bore dimension ofthe contacttip is to be selected with regard
to wire diameter, type of shielding gas and actual intensity of the
current—we refer to the table on page 36.

6. When afume extraction unit is combined with the welding gun
the shielding gas requirement will increase by some 10—20 96
7. Welding gun inclination in relation to the workpiece—an angle
below 45* means a risk of improper gas shield.
Maintenance

Unnecessary and costly stoppages can be reduced through
regular maintenance.
1. Weldingspatterinthe gas nozze willimpairthe gas shield and
increase the risk of spark-over. Clean the nozzle, using a
moderate quantity of welding paste or welding spray.
2. The spatter guard of the gas nozzle should be replaced when
its front edge has been worn thin.
3. Disconnectthe welding hose from the wire feed unit and purge
it with compressed air in connection with every change of the
wire reel.
4. The wire end should be free from any sharp edges when
inserted into the wire conduit—this is particularly important
when using the Teflon-based conduit.
