Test and inspection methods
ntroduction
I
This work method is used for guidance when
commissioning a stairlift and completing
the Certificate of Test and Examination
after the stairlift is installed.
Section 1
Description
b) Enter details:
• The contract or order reference
number. e.g. 99390
• The chair serial no.
• The carriage serial no.
e) Check that the motor tested label is
present on the motor.
Section 2
Electrical Tests
a) Measure AC supply across the live and
neutral terminals at the charger supply
input.
b) Measure battery voltage.
c) Measure the current draw from the motor
during stalling.
d) Electronic trip time (Maximum 3
seconds).
f) Fuse rating (Max 2 Amps).
g) Check polarity at spur or the incoming
mains supply.
h) Carry out a continuity test to ensure the
0 volt wire is mechanically and electri-
cally connected to the rail.
i) Check polarity of battery connections
j) Enter mains AC supply frequency (Hz) for
the appropriate country.
k) Motor reversal delay (Min 3 seconds).
m) Measure the current draw from the motor
during operation in both directions.
Section 3
Battery Tests
a) Measure battery charge voltage.
b) Delete as necessary.
c) Delete as necessary.
d) Test battery charge condition using the
four volt drop principle.
e) Visually check for any leaks or corrosion.
Section 4
Mechanical / Operation Test
Switch Operation
a) Delete as necessary.
b) Delete as necessary.
c) Delete as necessary.
d) Delete as necessary.
e) Confirm safety gear mechanism has
been subjected to factory test (Test label
present) and will function correctly when
tripped.
f) All electrical safety devices function
correctly.
g) Confirm stairlift is capable of supporting
maximum rated load + 25%.
Component funtioning
h) Record the stopping distance (must not
exceed 20mm).
i) Check the handwinding operation.
j) Confirm the tested label is present on
the overspeed governor assembly.
k) State option fitted.
l) Record footrest heights.
Section 5
Confirmation
The stairlift user must be fully instructed on
the use of the stairlift including the
emergency handwinding procedures. All
operating instructions should be handed
over to the user on completion.
Section 6
Declaration
This section must be completed in full using
the distributor's address and signed.
On completion of the final test and
examination and completion of the
test certificate affix the warning
labels to the carriage assembly
referring to the installation manual
(See page 32). This is important to
ensure compliance with CE
directives.
