Start-up:
During any test operation, it is recommended to ap-
ply PTFE spray onto the inner side of the separator,
to avoid unnecessary wear and to reduce energy con-
sumption of the gear motor.
Prior to start-up, check:
that there are no foreign objects in the separator
housing or the associated duct system
that the direction of rotation of the separator's rotor
is correct (indicated by the arrow)
the oil level in the gear
that the vent plug is activated by removing the seal-
ing cord
that all parts including protective guards are se-
curely fastened
Service and maintenance:
All service, maintenance and repairs should be per-
formed by qualified or trained personnel.
The rotor is equipped with replaceable rubber blades.
The rubber blades run close to the separators housing,
and will be worn over time. The lifetime of the blades
are dependent of the conveyed material. When the rub-
ber blades are worn, air will slip past the rotor, thereby
hampering the materials from being separated. When
the capacity has become low, the rubber blades needs
replacement.
Always switch off the separator before any service or
repairs are done, and assure that it can not be started
accidently.
When replacing rubber blades, always use original
Kongskilde spare parts, see the spare part list and
figure 4.

Sealing rings for rotor
On each side of the separator a two-piece sealing ring
is mounted between the rotor and the end plate. The
two-piece sealing ring consists of a pressure ring (A)
and a sealing ring (B), see figure 5.
As the sealing rings are subject to increasing wear,
more air will pass from the pressure side of the sepa-
8
rator to the suction side and, accordingly, reduce the
conveying capacity. When the capacity has decreased
unacceptably, replace the sealing rings. It is recom-
mended to replace the pressure rings simultaneously
with the sealing rings.
New sealing rings must be greased on the sliding sur-
face prior to mounting.
A sealing ring (C) is mounted on the middle of the ro-
tor, see figure 5, avoiding suction of material into the
blower. It is important that this sealing ring is working
properly, as the blower may be damaged, if material is
sucked into the blower.

Dismounting of rotor
The separator is designed in such a way that it is only
necessary to dismount the end plate in one side (oppo-
site the gear motor) in order to withdraw the rotor from
the housing.
1. Stop the separator and avoid unintentional start of
operation.
2. Dismount the cover above the bearing.
3. Dismount the screws from the end plate (D) and
remove the end plate, see figure 6. It is easy to
dismount the end plate by fixing a special tool (E)
on the end plate and, accordingly, withdraw the end
plate by means of an ordinary puller. The tool can
be provided by Kongskilde, sales no. 121 000 698.
