6.3 Setting the mechanism for data transmission
For the transmission of data from a scanned barcode, HasciSE uses a HID service, which transmits the scan
barcodes to the counterpart device by means of a keyboard input. This allows barcode characters to be
entered directly into text fields without the need for an application on the remote device.
In order for this mechanism to work properly, the keyboard languages of HasciSE and the remote terminal
should be adapted to each other once.
In order to make the appropriate settings under the Android
connected. Afterwards, the HasciSE can be set to the desired language in the app "Settings" under the item
"physical keyboard".
At the same time, the language just set should also be adapted on the HasciSE using a configuration
barcode (see chapter 0).
If there is an offset between the system language and the language
set on the backhand scanner, certain characters may be displayed
incorrectly on the other device.
NOTE
When scanning large barcodes very fast, the ring buffer is full after a
total of 1,000 characters, the transmission stops and the red LED of
the HasciSE lights up briefly once. When scanning further barcodes,
no more data will be transmitted, although a good scan is signaled by
NOTE
the HasciSE by the green LED and the high-pitched tone. In this case,
the HasciSE should be restarted so that the ring buffer is cleared.
6.4 Pairing and barcode reception via ACD HasciDataService
A third variant to perform the pairing is the Android app ACD HasciDataService. This allows the user to
easily establish a connection to the backhand scanner, and the user does not need access to the system
settings. This can be very useful in kiosk mode, for example.
To transmit the data of a scanned barcode, the backhand scanner does not use the HID standard, but sends
them as data packets to the ACD HasciDataService app. There are two ways to pass the barcode to other
apps:
The barcode is sent by the ACD HasciDataService as a broadcast intent.
The receiving apps have to be adapted accordingly for a successful reception of the data.
The receiving apps communicate with the ACD HasciDataService via a messenger.
This enables not only barcode reception, but also the control of HasciSE functions.
For further information about the app ACD HasciDataService please refer to the software documentation
"ACD HasciDataService".
