4.1-Installing
the
hedgc
trimmer
cutter

WARNING!
The
cutter
blades
are very
sharp.
Do
not
handle the cutter
assembly
unless the
protective blade
cover
is
in
place.
IMPORTANT!
Always
wear
gloves
when working with
or
near the cutter
assembly.

Make sure the cutter bar
is
locked
III
the storage/transport
position
(folded
back) and the
protective
cover
is
installed
over
the
cutter
blades.
2.
Insert the
end of
the
outer tube into
the hedge
trimmer curter
gearcase
clamp assembly and push
until it
bottoms.
The outer tube
should go
into the
gearcase
about 1-1/2
in.
(38 111m).
If the
outer
tube
stops before
bottoming,
rotate it
until you feel
the
inner main shaft (driveshaft)
splines engage
the
gearcase.
Then
push
the
outer
rube
all
the way
in.
3. Rotate
the
gearcase/cutter
assembly
so that index
screw
aligns
with
the hole
in
the outer
tube.
With
the
powerhead in the upright
position,
the cutter assembly
will
appear to be upside down while
in the storage/transport.

4. Use a
4mlll
Allen
wrench to tighten
the hedge
trimmer
gearcase index
screw
first,
then
the gearcase
clamp
screw.
5. Adjust
the hand protector/cutter
rest

that
the
tip of the cutter bar
fits
into the support
notch.
Make SUire
the cutter
bar
also
lifts
out ofthe notch easily.
Then
tighten
the
hand protector clamp screw with a screw
driver.

GETTING
STARTED
An articulated
hedge
trimmer
has the
potential
to do
serious damage
if
misused,
abused
or
mishandled.
To
reduce
the risk
of
injury, you must
maintain
control at all times, and observe all
safety precautions
during operation.
Never
permit
a person
without training
or instruction to operate
this
machine!
This machine is
designed especially for trimming
hedges
Never
use this
machine for any other
purposes.
Never try to
cut stones, metals,
plastics or any
other
hard objects.
Using for
other
purposes
than
trimming hedges may damage the machine
or
cause serious injury.
Always
wear
eye
and ear
protection.
M.anufacturer
recommends
wearing a
face
shield
as
additional
face
and
eye
protection.
Secure
long hair
above
shoulder level.
Always
wear a hard
hat
to
reduce the
risk of
head
injuries
during
operation
of
this machine.
Wear
non
slip
heavy-duty work gloves to improve
your
grip on the
trimmer
handle.
Wear
snug-fitting clothes
that also permit freedom of
movement.
NEVER
wear
shorts'
Wear sturdy
footwear
with no slip
soles
to
provide
good footing.
Steel-toes
safety
boots
are
recommended.
Keep
bystanders
at
least 15
meters
(50
feet)
away from
the operating
trimmer
to
reduce
the risk of
being
struck
by falling
objects
or
debris.
Keep a proper footing and do not overreach - maintain your
balance
at all
times during
operation.
Always operate with both
hands firmly gripping
the
machine.
