5. Cleaning
Manual cleaning
Before using for the first time and after each time it is used:
• Dismantle the breastpump into its individual parts.
• Rinse for at least 1 minute using cold tap water.
• Clean the components of the pump with commercial detergent and warm water (not over +40°C /
104 °F) and rinse with cold tap water. Make sure that all detergent residues are removed.
• A soft brush can also be used for heavy soiling.
ATTENTION! Do not clean the lip valve with the brush.
• Allow all parts of a clean surface to air dry.
Manual disinfection
1x daily after manual cleaning
• Make sure there is enough water in the pot in order to prevent damage/deformation.
• Boil the parts for 5 minutes.
• Allow the parts to cool down and dry on a clean surface.
• The lever, casing cover and bottle stand can, but need not, be boiled.
Check the individual parts for cracks and changes to the surface according to the cleaning and
disinfection process. If you discover any changes, dispose of the part affected and replace with a new one.
Function test
Once assembled, the Amaryll is placed on a hairless area of the skin (stomach area). When the breast
shell is fully in place, a vacuum should be perceptible when the lever is pressed. Once this is done, the
Amaryll can be used again.
6. Possible problems and troubleshooting
Weak or no vacuum:
• Ensure that the Amaryll manual breastpump has been correctly assembled and is not damaged.
• Check whether the lip valve is cracked or stuck together.
• Make sure that the casing cover seals well.
Pain when pumping:
• Ensure that the nipple is in the middle of the breast shell.
• Check that the breast shell size fits your nipples.
• If problems continue seek professional help.
