The therapy should by applied until the volume of the stump has been stabilised. After this
period, the first prosthesis adaptation can be started. Due to the gradual application of
the compression liner the patient has the chance to adapt to the use and the feeling of a
compression liner. The attached compression chart (see point 17 "compression chart" ) helps to
obtain a fast therapy overview.
Advantages of the compression therapy with compression liner:
1. Safe and correct compression therapy. The application of compression liner grants an even
stump compression without the usual known differences of previous methods of stump
compression without the liner.
2. The effective stabilisation of the stump circumference due to application of the compression
liner provides a faster mobilisation of the patient.
3. The application of the Streifeneder compression liner helps to restore a much better stump
shape. Therefore, prosthetic complications due to an unfavourable stump shape can be
reduced from the beginning.
The duration of the therapy depends on the decision of the treating physicians. They will decide
when the first prosthetic care may be adapted. Please document the wearing period in the
attached chart (see point 17 "compression chart"). It provides important information about the
treatment progress.
9 Donning and Doffing of the Compression Liner
To simplify the application of the compression liner, please use the 10H5 Skin Care Spray.
Dampening the compression liner surface with the spray helps to make the application
considerably easier (see Fig. 2).
Attention!
Please never try to put on the compression liner without spray.
Turn the compression liner inside out and ensure that the inner surface stays absolutely clear of
spray (see Fig. 3).
Please make sure that the compression liner has been turned completely. Now apply the inner
curved surface onto the stump end (see Fig. 4).
Slowly push the compression liner completely over the stump. If the compression liner is too
long, please shorten it according to the indications of the instruction manual. Please make sure
that no air pockets occur between compression liner and skin. If this is the case, remove the
compression liner and re-apply (see Fig. 5).
If the compression liner clings to clothes or bed sheets, a thin stocking (e. g. Nylon Sheath,
Order No. 20A51) can be worn over the compression liner (see Fig. 6).
Before removing the compression liner, please again spray the outer surface of the compression
liner. Please ensure that the user's skin will not be sprayed.
