1.2.7.
Dust and smoke hazards
-
Exposure to high sound levels can cause permanent and disabling hearing loss and other problems
such as tinnitus (ringing, buzzing, whistling or buzzing in the ears). Therefore, assessing risks and
implementing appropriate controls for these hazardous phenomena is paramount.
-
Appropriate controls to reduce risk may include actions, such as dampening materials, to prevent parts
from ringing.
-
Use acoustic protection in accordance with the employer's instructions and as required by occupational
safety and health regulations.
-
Operate and maintain the tool grinder as advised in the instruction manual to avoid an unnecessary
increase in noise level.
-
Select, maintain and replace the consumable/tool as advised in the instruction manual to prevent
unnecessary increase in noise.
-
If the tool grinder is equipped with a silencer, always ensure that it is in place and in good working order
when the machine is operating.
1.2.8.
Risks linked to vibration emissions
-
Exposure to vibration can cause disabling damage to the nerves and blood circulation of the hands and
arms.
-
Wear warm clothing when working in the cold and keep hands warm and dry.
-
If the skin of the fingers or hands begins to numb, tingle, turn white or becomes painful, discontinue
use of the tool grinder, inform the employer and consult a doctor.
-
Operate and maintain the tool grinder as advised in the instruction manual to avoid any unnecessary
increase in vibration levels.
-
Select, maintain and replace the consumable/tool as advised in the instruction manual to avoid any
unnecessary increase in vibration level.
-
Suspend the weight of the machine from a bench, tensioner, or balancer, if possible.
-
Hold the tool without excessive pressure but firmly, taking into consideration the required hand reaction
forces as the risk from vibration is generally higher when the gripping force is greater.
-
Incorrect assembly or a damaged tool can cause excessive vibration.
1.2.9.
Additional instructions for pneumatic machines
-
Pressurized air can cause serious injury: always turn off the air supply, drain the pneumatic pressure
hose and disconnect the machine from the air supply when not in use, before changing accessories or
carry out repairs; never direct the airflow towards yourself or another person.
-
Hose whipping can cause serious injury. Systematically check that the hoses and connections are tight
and in good condition.
-
When universal helical fittings (claw fittings) are used, safety pins must be installed and hose safety
cables must be used to protect against possible ruptures between the hose and the machine or the
hose and the fitting.
-
Do not exceed the maximum pneumatic pressure marked on the machine.
-
Never carry a pneumatic machine by the hose.
-
For continuously rotating and torque-controlled machines, pneumatic pressure has a critical effect on
safety performance. Therefore, requirements for hose length and diameter must be specified.
-
It is the user's responsibility to properly lubricate the tool. DO NOT USE flammable or volatile oil for
lubrication, IE. Diesel oil, gas oil or kerosene.
ATTENTION :
We decline all responsibility for accidents and damage due to non-compliance with these
instructions.
