10. BICYCLE ADJUSTMENT
REGULATION OF HIDRAULIC BRAKES
The hidraulic brake system or disk brake system is a close hidraulic
system which works when the brake lever push the brake pads to the
brake disks located on the front and rear wheels.
A correct maintenance of braking system gives a safer operation for
the riding.
The essential parts os the hidraulic brake system are:
- Brake lever with oil deposit.
- Hidraulic hose.
- Hidraulic disc calipers with brake pads.
Be careful after a long riding use because the brake disk could reach
high temperaturas.
Brake pads could be blocked if the brake levers are pressed so there is
not enough space to assemble the wheels. To prevent this block, use
the spacers of the bicycle. To solve the problema it is suggested to use
the braking system handbook or consult to the authorised distributor.
Check the brake disks have no oil or grease bicycle. Use the alcohol to
clean the disks.
If the brake levers touch the handlebar when braking, the hidraulic
brake system has to be modified. This is a profesional reparation so is
recommended to carry the bicycle to an authorised distributor.
Check that there is a distance of 0,5mm between the brake pads and
the disk.
Replace any part of braking system which could be not in good
conditions. This operation could require specific tools and knowledge.
Carry the bicycle to an authoritative distributor.
