3.1
Switching on the instrument
3.1.1
STANDBY mode
1. Release the lock on the
holder.
2. Remove the holder.
3. Check calibration cradle and clean if necessary:
a. Check power contacts for dirt and moisture, clean and
dry them if necessary or replace the contact block
(order no. 83 25 323), see chapter 13 on page 71.
b. If necessary, lubricate with enclosed contact grease
(order no. 83 24 826), see chapter 13 on page 71.
c. Check mobility of the power contacts by pressing each
pin. The pins must all spring back the original height.
d. Check IR interface for dirt and deposits and clean if
necessary.
4. Check power contacts on X-am 5x00 for dirt and deposits,
corrosion and discolouration and clean if necessary.
5. Insert the X-am 5x00 into
the calibration cradle.
To do so, position device
over the supply contacts
and press down.

The clip on the X-am 5x00 must be closed and the
fastening grommet must be folded down.
6. Place the holder onto the housing.

The seal areas of the holder and the cap at the holder
X-am 5100 must be clean and dry. Clean and dry cap
and seals if necessary (see chapter 13 on page 71).

7. When using the holder
X-am 5100:
a. Press the cap on the
gas inlet of the X-am
5100.
b. Connect the hose to
the filter in front of the
pump inlet.

8. Fasten the lock at the
holder.
9. Press the
X-zone 5500 and hold it
for approx. 3 seconds.
The battery LED will be
green, red/green or red
(see
chapter
page 73) depending on
the battery capacity.
The X-zone 5500 is in STANDBY mode.
CAUTION
!
All 3 locks must be pulled tight to ensure that the X-am
5x00 is in the correct position and the charger
connection is assured.

The X-zone 5500 automatically switches from
STANDBY mode to OFF mode if the device is not
switched to ON mode within 72 h.

ON mode

CAUTION
!
When
recommends wearing hearing protection or using the
alarm-attenuation ring (order no. 83 20 110) since the
acoustic alarm is activated briefly.
Switch on the X-am 5x00 following the instructions for use.
The visual and the audible alarm will be activated briefly.
The X-am 5x00 switches to X-zone mode (see chapter
3.1.3 on page 45).
The visual and acoustic life signal (green LED ring and
single tone) is issued depending on the configuration (1 -
60 seconds; default setting: (2 seconds).
The X-zone 5500 is in ON mode and ready for operation.
In ON mode, the alarm signals of the X-am 5x00 are
evaluated, processed, and, if applicable, transmitted to
other X-zone 5500 devices.
