To clean the air filter
CAUTION: Always replace a damaged air
filter. The wear on the engine increases with
a damaged air filter. Clean the air filter at an
interval of 25 hours of operation.
If you use an air filter for a long time, it cannot be fully
cleaned. Replace the air filter with a new one at regular
intervals.
1. Remove the air filter cover and remove the air filter.
(Fig. 66)
2. Clean the air filter with compressed air.
3. Clean the inner surface of the filter cover. Use
compressed air or a brush.
4. If the air filter is not clean, remove the air filter and
clean it with warm water and soap.
5. Make sure that the filter is dry before you assemble
the air filter again.
To apply oil to the air filter
CAUTION: Always use Husqvarna special
air-filter oil. Do not use other types of oil.
WARNING: Put on protective gloves. The
air-filter oil can cause skin irritation.
1. Put the air filter in a plastic bag.
2. Put the oil in the plastic bag.
3. Rub the plastic bag to supply the oil equally across
the air filter.
4. Push the unwanted oil out of the air filter while in the
plastic bag. (Fig. 67)

Fuel filter

WARNING: When assemble or disassemble
the fuel filter, be careful not to damage the
rubber packing. A damaged rubber packing
or insufficient assembly of the fuel filter will
cause fuel to leak.
Examine the fuel filter (A) at an interval of 25 hours of
operation. If the fuel filter is clogged it must be cleaned,

instructions. A clogged fuel filter can prevent that the
rotation speed of the engine increases. A clogged fuel
filter can also make unwanted speed variations occur. If
the fuel filter is damaged, it must be replaced.

To clean the fuel filter
1. Examine the fuel filter.

2. Replace the fuel filter if it is damaged.
3. If the fuel filter is clogged, remove the fuel from the
fuel tank.
4. Clean the fuel filter with a brush.
5. Replace the fuel filter if you can not clean it.
6. Put the fuel filter back in the fuel tank.

Bevel gear

The bevel gear is filled to ¾ with grease at the factory.
Before you use the product, make sure that the grease
level has not changed. Use Husqvarna special grease if
it is necessary to fill up. Do not replace the grease in the
bevel gear. Let servicing personnel do the repair of the
bevel gear.

To lubricate the flexible drive shaft

1. Pull up the knob and remove the drive shaft sleeve
from the clutch cover. (Fig. 70)
a) Shake or pull the drive shaft out of the drive shaft
sleeve. (Fig. 71)
2. Lubricate the drive shaft. (Fig. 72)
3. Push and turn the drive shaft at the same time to put
it back in the drive shaft sleeve. Keep approximately
10 mm / 0.40 in. of the drive shaft outside the edge
of the drive shaft sleeve. (Fig. 73)
4. Align the hole in the drive shaft sleeve with the knob
on the clutch cover. (Fig. 74)
5. Push and turn the drive shaft at the same time to
connect it.

To attach and remove the locknut

WARNING: Stop the engine, use protective
gloves and be careful around the sharp
edges of the cutting attachment.
A locknut is used to attach some types of cutting
attachments. The locknut has a left thread.
To attach, tighten the locknut in the opposite
direction to the direction of turning of the cutting
attachment.
To remove the locknut, loosen the locknut in the
same direction as the cutting attachment rotates.
To loosen and tighten the locknut, use a socket
wrench with a long shaft. The arrow in the picture
shows the area where you can operate the socket
wrench. (Fig. 75)
WARNING: When you loosen and
tighten the locknut, there is a risk of
injury from the blade. You must always
make sure that the blade guard prevents
injury to your hand when you do this.
