3. PHYSICAL MOUNTING OF THE CONTROL BOX

The position of the exterior control box needs to recon-
cile 2 opposite requirements:
1. mounted as close as possible to the rear side of the
vehicle body, so that the operator can maintain a clear
visual control over the action radius of the platform at
all times
2. mounted as far as possible from the rear side of the
vehicle body, to protect the operator from crushing his
head or limbs between the rear frame of the body and
the lifting or closing platform (danger zone !)
The compromise of EN1756-1 : the distance (L) between
the rear edge of the body and the centre line of the con-
trols shall be between 300mm and 600mm. [See Fig. 3.1]
When a 3+1 button control box is used, the distance be-
tween the main control box and the safety button should
be at least 250mm. [See Fig. 3.2]
In standard configuration, the exterior control box is sup-
plied with a steel mounting bracket. [See Fig. 3.3]. This
bracket can be mounted from the top and from the rear
side of the control box. [See Fig. 3.4]
Attention: the mounting bracket can be bolted
or welded to the vehicle body or chassis. If
welded, pay attention not to damage the PVC
control box. Preferably, disconnect the control
box from its bracket prior to welding.
As option (S411.LM), the exterior control box can be sup-
plied with a quick-fit mounting tube, allowing easy adjust-
ment of the position of the control box. [See Fig. 3.5].
The 3+1 button control box is either integrated in the side
panel of the body [See Fig. 3.6], or mounted under the
vehicle body by means of optional mounting brackets
(option S411.3+1) [See Fig. 3.7]
