2 Safety Notes
This unit corresponds to the directive for electromag-
netic compatibility 89/336/EEC and the low voltage
directive 73/23/EEC.
With this meter very high voltages dangerous to life
can be measured. Be especially careful with voltage
measurements from 42 V on. The test leads must
always be perfectly insulated. Damaged test leads
must be replaced.
It is necessary to observe the following items:
The meter is suitable for indoor use only. Protect it
against humidity and heat (admissible ambient tem-
perature range 0 - 40 °C).
For cleaning only use a dry, soft cloth. Do not use
any chemicals or water.
If the valid safety precautions for handling voltages
from 42 V on are not observed or if the meter is used
for purposes other than originally intended, if it is
operated or connected in the wrong way, overloaded
or not repaired by authorized personnel, no liability
can be taken over for possible damage.
If the meter is to be put out of operation definitively,
it must be disposed of in a local recycling plant.
3 Applications
The digital multimeter DMT-2570 serves for measuring
DC and AC voltages, DC and AC currents as well as
resistances. Besides, transistors, diodes, capacitors,
and frequencies can be measured. For continuity
measurement a buzzer is integrated. Via the enclosed
temperature sensor the surface temperature of objects
can be measured.
4 Setting into Operation
1) For a favourable reading position fold out the set-up
bracket at the rear side of the rubber protection
frame.
2) Set the rotary switch (5) to the desired measuring
range, and switch on the meter with the red button
"ON/OFF" (1).
3) The display shows an indication. If not, a 9 V battery
has to be inserted. If symbol
replace the battery - see chapter 6 "Replacing of
Battery or Fuse".
4) After the operation switch off the unit with the red
button "ON/OFF" (1). The test tips can be clamped
to the rear side of the rubber protection frame.
The meter also switches off automatically if it is
not used for approx. 40 minutes. To switch it on
again, at first release the red button "ON/OFF" and
then press it in again.
5) If the meter is not used for a longer period of time,
the battery should be taken out to avoid damage to
the unit in case the battery should leak.
