3.2. MEASURING

After setting the C.A 8220, turn the switch to
Link the two connectors of the C.A 1711 to the current
entry of the C.A 8220, ensuring the polarity is correct.
Stick one or more reflective adhesive pieces on the
spinning part.
Note: To obtain a stable measurement when the part
spins slowly, stick several reflective pieces onto the
part, spread equally.
Point the C.A 1711 probe on the spinning part at a
distance of between 5cm and 30cm, and press the
yellow start button.
Adjust the direction of the probe so that the laser beam
hits the reflective piece(s).
Note: The beam should hit the surface of the adhesive
piece at a perpendicular angle so the reflection will be
picked up by the C.A 1711 probe.
Read the RPM measurement shown on the C.A 8220
display screen.

3.3. MEASUREMENT PRECAUTION

For safety reasons, keep the probe away from the
spinning parts.
If the probe appears to be giving the wrong indications,
check the lens. It could be covered in condensation or
dust. Clean it following the maintenance instructions in
§ 5.2).
Do not make measurements towards fluorescent
lights, the results may/are likely to be inconsistent.
