up the rope and pull down quickly. It must move freely above and
immediately lock when it comes down.
To use, attach the carabiner on the rope to a fail-safe anchor point
with a minimum strength requirement of 12 kN (e.g. in accordance
with EN 795, DIBT, AINSI...).
Attach the carabiner of the fall arrest device to the attachment point
of the safety harness (e.g. EN 361) marked 'A'. We recommend that
you use the front attachment point.
Avoid having a slack rope (this is particularly important during the
first few metres of ascent, until there is sufficient weight on the rope to
automatically keep the rope at ground level) and ensure that there is
always enough free space beneath the feet of the user, in order to
prevent hitting the ground or part of the building in the event of a fall
(2.4 + 2.5).
If you have a manual locking fall arrest device, you must attach the
loose end of the rope, in order to prevent the accidental pulling up of
the rope (building-up of slack rope) with the locked fall arrest device.
Manual adjustment of the locking mechanism must only be done in
an area where there is no risk of a fall, in order to prevent a fall.
Depending on classification, mobile fall arrest devices are also
permitted for horizontal applications When doing so, ensure that the
edge has a min. radius of 0.5 mm (2.7).
If the fall arrest device is used on a roof or platform, and there is no
means of attaching it to an anchor point above the user, it can be
attached to an anchor point near the user. However, we recommend
that you adjust the device to make it as short as possible, in order to
rule out a fall over the edge. Slack is to be avoided at all costs, and
the danger of taking a swing through moving sideways
minimised (2.6).
The lanyard to the fall arrest device must not be extended. Do not
climb above the anchor point!
