Lashing Chains with Ratchet
Tensione

1. Area of application

The ratchet tensioner is designed for use with lashing
equipment and/or for different attachment purposes.

2. Conditions for use

This equipment may only be used if:
Lashing forces occur that are known" ersetzen durch
"Lashing forces that occur are known and do not
exceed the max. load as stated on the type plate. This
also applies to any impact and/or cyclic loads.
It can be guaranteed that the direction of the load works
axially to the spindle of the ratchet tensioner, i.e. free
hanging only in the direction of the pull. Bending stress
needs to be prevented, as it will cause damage.
A visual and functional check has been carried out befo-
re each use. Steps should be taken to ensure that
the spindles in the turn-out area work smoothly and
that there are no visible deformations, cracks or damage.
If any damage is found, stop using the equipment
immediately. This also applies to all other components
of the lashing chain!
The lashing chains and ratchet tensioner will not be used
to lift loads.
3. Application
The size of the lashing chains and ratchet tensioner need
to be selected depending on the respective forces and the
lashing method. Long-link chains may only be used for
long wood!
Lashing with the ratchet tensioner must be performed
with one hand using the hand lever (approx. 50 kg) and
without an extension etc.
The ratchet tensioner may not be allowed to lie on or
touch the loaded goods.
For safety reasons, the turn-out area of the spindles is
restricted depending on the size. The tensioning length of
the ratchet tensioner is
Size 5/16" (for chains with 8 mm dia.) max. 150 mm
Size 3/8" (for chains with 10 mm dia.) max. 150 mm
Size 1/2" (for chains with 13 mm dia.) max. 150 mm
and is only achieved when both spindles are turned in.

Attention! Forced exceedance of the range will
damage the turn-out safeguard and the thread
and will make the ratchet tensioner unserviceable.
The selected lashing chains need to be sufficiently long
for the lashing method and satisfy the size specifications;
this needs to be planned in advance. The basis for this is
the standard EN 12195 – 1: 2000.
Due to the various behavioral patterns, different lashing
equipment (lashing chains/lashing belts) may not be
used in combination for one load.
Before opening the lashings, ensure that the load is
stable and not likely to slip. The load must lie stably on
the supporting surface.
If attachment/lashing points are available, they must be
used.
To guarantee functional safety and reduce wear, moving
mechanical parts need to be lubricated, e.g. with oil,
depending on how often they are used.
The next UV-check must be carried out according to the
type plate by an authorized person.

4. Residual risks

Proper use minimizes the risk of bodily injury to the user
and others. Improper use may lead to serious injury.
Be aware of low-hanging overhead wires during
unloading and loading.
Applicable, relevant and current accident prevention
guidelines and/or regulations need to be observed
when securing loads.
Prevent damage caused by sharp edges, crushing etc.
by taking suitable protection measures.
Position the ratchet tensioner so that it can be operated
from a secure stance (not while climbing on top of the
loaded goods!)
Knotted lashing chains or those that have been linked
with bolts or screws may not be used.
The operating instructions must be kept at hand and
accessible to all users.
Be aware of the potential dangers when loosening the
lashing equipment.
Be aware that the manual lever could snap backwards.
