6 Operation

6.1 Changing sockets
6.1.1 Changing the socket (½" square drive with
ball-notch retention)
NOTE
Bring the notch in the socket into alignment with the ball

on the square drive before fitting it to the power tool.
The socket will not be held securely and could fall off
inadvertently if this point is not observed.

Set the forward / reverse switch to the middle posi-
tion or remove the battery from the power tool.

Align the hole in the side of the nut driver with the
retention ball on the square drive.
3.
Push the nut driver onto the chuck until it engages.

Set the forward / reverse switch to the middle posi-
tion or remove the battery from the power tool.

Pull the socket away from the square drive spindle.

Set the forward / reverse switch to the middle posi-
tion or remove the battery from the power tool.

Remove the O-ring from the groove in the socket.
3.
Pull out the locking pin.

7 Care and maintenance

WARNING
Repairs to the electrical section of the power tool may
be carried out only by trained electrical specialists.
7.1 Care of the power tool
CAUTION
Keep the power tool, especially its grip surfaces,
clean and free from oil and grease. Do not use clean-
ing agents which contain silicone.
Never operate the power tool when the ventilation slots
are blocked. Clean the ventilation slots carefully using
a dry brush. Do not permit foreign objects to enter the
interior of the power tool. Clean the outside of the power
tool at regular intervals with a slightly damp cloth. Do
not use a spray, steam pressure cleaning equipment or

Place the socket on the square drive spindle of the
tool.
NOTE Take care to ensure that the holes in the
square drive spindle and socket, into which the
locking pin is inserted, are in alignment with each
other.

To secure the socket, first insert the locking pin and
then fit the O-ring.
6.1.2.2 Removing the socket 7

Set the forward / reverse switch to the middle posi-
tion or remove the battery from the power tool.

Remove the O-ring from the groove in the socket.

Pull out the locking pin.
4.
Remove the socket from the square drive spindle of
the tool.

To secure the socket, first insert the locking pin and
then fit the O-ring.

CAUTION
Check that the belt hook is fitted securely before
beginning work.
The belt hook allows the power tool to be attached to a
belt worn by the operator. The belt hook can also be fitted
to the other side of the power tool for use by left-handed
persons.

7.2 Care of the Li‑ion battery
NOTE
Battery performance drops at low temperatures.

Store the battery in a cool and dry place.
In order to achieve maximum battery life, stop using the

ance is noticed.
NOTE
- If use continues, further battery discharge will be
stopped automatically before the battery cells suffer
damage.
- Charge the batteries using the specified and approved
Hilti battery chargers for Li‑ion batteries.
