Cutting width indicator/plant protector guard (fig. 1)
The bar (7) on the front of the strimmer serves as both
a plant protector guard and a cutting width indicator: The
cutting line only moves within the dimensions of the un-
folded bar. However, the strimmer can also be operated
with the bar folded up if required.
6. Adjusting the inclination angle and
shaft length
(Fig. 8, 9 and 10)
Adjusting the tube length (fig. 8)
Turn the plastic cover (4) clockwise to loosen it. Adjust
the tube to a suitable length and re-tighten the screw
sleeve (4) by turning anticlockwise.
Adjusting for edge trimming (fig. 9, 10 and 13)
Pull the locking mechanism (3) upwards to release (fig.
9) - the handle can now be turned by 180° (fig. 10). Then
push the locking mechanism downwards to latch it into
place again.
You can use the plant protector guard (7) as a support to
cut edges cleanly using this setting (fig. 13).

7. Connecting the trimmer

The machine can only be used on single-phase AC
current. It is double-insulated in accordance with Class
II VDE 0700 and EEC 20. Before using the trimmer, en-
sure that the mains voltage is the same as the operating
voltage shown on the rating plate.
Wires of extension cord must have the following mini-
mum cross sectional area:
1,5 mm
Connect trimmer's plug to extension cord coupling.
Make a loop in the extension cord, push it through
the opening in the handle and hook over the lug
(strain relief).
After finishing work, unhook loop from lug and pull it
out of the handle.

8. Switching on / off

To operate your grass trimmer:
Make sure you have a secure footing.
Hold the trimmer firmly (with both hands).
Stand upright - hold trimmer in relaxed position.
Do not rest the cutting head on the ground.
Squeeze the switch (1).
The trimmer is switched off when you release the
switch (1).

9. Trimming grass and weeds

Sweep trimmer back and forth uniformly to cut small
patches of grass or weeds. The trimmer is not con-
structed and suitable for cutting large areas.
Wherever possible, cut with left-hand side so that
cut-tings, dust and stones are thrown forwards, away
from the user.
Ideal working conditions are achieved if the trimmer
is tilted to the left at an angle approx. of 30°.

10. Extending the cutting line automati-
cally
The cutting line (11) is extended a little each time the
strimmer is switched off. When it is switched back on,
the line is audibly cut off to the correct length using the
cutting blade on the protective cover. The motor now
rotates at full speed.
If you do not hear the line being cut off, it was not fed far
enough. To extend the line further, the strimmer must be
stopped completely and then started again to obtain the
maximum motor speed. If necessary, repeat the process
multiple times until the line is audibly cut off to the correct
length. (Do not repeat this process more than 4 times).
Note: Clean the thread cutting blade from grass re-
mainders in order to guarantee an unaffected cutting
performance.
Attention: Danger of injury through the cutting blade!

11. Extending the cutting line manually

The cutting line (11) can be extended manually if required.
To do this, push the centrifugal force locking mechanism
(17) and pull one line until it reaches the cutting blade.
Then pull the second line out to the correct length. The
centrifugal force locking mechanism (17) no longer has
to be pushed to do this.
If the cutting line has been pulled out too far, push the
locking mechanisms (13) on the cutting head cover (12)
and remove it. Then push the line spool (14) downwards
and rotate in an anticlockwise direction to adjust the line
to the required length. Then place the cutting head cover
(12) back on. Both locking mechanisms (13) must latch
in correctly.

12. Replacement of spool

First, switch off and unplug the device. Wait until the
nylon thread has come to a halt. Then push the two
locking devices 13 at the sides of the cutting head, and
remove the cutting head cover 12. Remove the used
thread coil and put in the new coil 14 such, that one end
of the thread 15 comes out of each outlet at the sides of
the cutting head. Finally, close the cover by pushing it in
its seat. Both locks must properly engage.
Note: We recommend replacing the line spool com-
pletely.

13. Trouble shooting

Trimmer does not work: Check power supply (e.g.
by testing on another socket or by means of a volt-
age tester). Should it still not work, although the
socket is o.k., send it undismantled to an authorised
service station for repair.
Cutting line disappears into spool: Remove spool,
pull end of line through the metal outlet and reinsert
spool. In case nylon line is used up insert a new
spool with line.
Do not make any other repairs on your own; have your
trimmer checked and repaired by an authorised dealer.
