Interfering influences and notes to be observed
• The measurement results should be used exclusively as orien-
tation values for the measurement of moisture.
m
The displayed measured values are so-called dimension-
less digit values between 0 and 100. They do not indicate
moisture content in percent by mass or volume!
The size of the measured value results from the determined
dielectric constants ( ) of the measuring material. Dry air = 1.
Water
≈ 80. Therefore, the more moisture the material con-
tains, the higher the displayed measured value will be.
G
• A further important variable that influences the measured value
is the gross density of the measuring material. The higher the
gross density, the higher the measured value will be.
• The measurement point must be cleansed of contaminants (e.g.
paint residues, dust) before measuring.
• If the measuring material contains metal (e.g. nails, screws, cables,
pipes etc.) and this is within the measuring field of the sensor, the
measured value will increase abruptly due to strong reflections.
• If the ball head is held in corners (e.g. window frames), the mea-
sured value will be fundamentally higher, since there is more
substance in the stray field of the measuring head. A distance
must be kept from corners of more than 8 to 10 cm.
