• Always hold the ball head perpendicular to the measuring material
during the measurement, press it firmly against the measuring
surface and do not tilt it.
• Rough surfaces will always display a measured value that is too low.
• The working depth of the appliance is around 5 to 40 mm, depen-
ding on the gross density and the degree of moisture penetration
of the measured material. It is not possible to make statements
about deeper lying zones.
• In the case of material thicknesses of less than 2 cm, there is
a danger that moisture values from adjacent material layers
could influence the measured value.

• Comparative measurements on identical structural elements are
carried out such that a measurement is first made at an apparen-
tly dry point and the measured value is taken as the dry reference
value.
If the measured values at the subsequent measuring points are
considerably higher, it can be assumed that moisture has pene-
trated the near-surface region. The main area of application of
the dielectric measurement method is the comparative measure-
ment of the same building material or identical structural elements.
This method is therefore well suited for surveying water damage,
locating leaks and isolating moisture zones in order to mark
measurement points for CM measurements.
