6.3. USB interface
Before connecting the MSI 200 programmable safety controller to the
configuration PC, the MSIsafesoft configuration software with the
associated USB drivers for the safety module must be installed.
The USB interface (Standard USB 2.0) is used for communication between
the MSI 200 programmable safety controller and the MSIsafesoft
configuration software.
This includes
• Downloading configuration data (i.e., MSIsafesoft project data)
• Optional uploading of the configuration in order to open it as a project in
MSIsafesoft and edit it as required
• Reading of values from the safety controller during operation and displaying the read values in the
MSIsafesoft connection editor (online mode)
• Forcing of signals on the safety controller being operated for commissioning purposes (standard
commissioning mode)
A USB cable may be connected only during the startup!
Once the USB cable has been connected (5-pin mini USB connector), the relevant configured PC
automatically detects the safety controller.
Installing USB drivers
When the MSI 200 safety controller is connected to the configuration PC for the first time, you will need to
install the required USB drivers on the PC.
The "Found New Hardware" wizard will appear in order to help you do this.
• Select "No, not this time" when the "Can Windows connect to Windows Update..." prompt appears.
• Continue with the procedure for installing USB drivers for PSR-TRISAFE: Click the "Next" button.
• In the "Completing the Found New Hardware Wizard" window, end the process by selecting the
"Finish" button.
If the MSIsafesoft configuration software has already been started, the software will detect the status of
the safety controller and display this in the status bar at the bottom right of the screen.
6.4. AC-MSI-CFG1 (data memory module)
The MSI 200 programmable safety controller comes with a pluggable data
memory module called the AC-MSI-CFG1.
AC-MSI-CFG1 as a hardkey
Once the configuration of MSIsafesoft is downloaded in the MSI 200
safety controller, the configuration is stored in the AC-MSI-CFG1.
If the AC-MSI-CFG1 data memory module is removed during
normal operation, the controller will switch to the safe state.
All outputs are disabled.
A configuration can also be loaded to the MSI 200 prgrammable safety
controller using the AC-MSI-CFG1 data memory module.
