10. Setting up the camera
Check the power level of the batteries before installing the device. Make sure the memory card is properly inserted
and have sufficient available space. Verify time and date are correct.
When setting up the camera for scouting game or other outdoor applications, you must be sure to mount it in place
correctly and securely. We recommend mounting the camera on a sturdy tree with a diameter of about 6 inches
(15 cm).
To get the optimal picture quality, the tree should be about 16-17 feet (5 meters) away from the place to be
monitored. Mount the camera about 1.5  2m (5  6 feet) high with the camera pointed at a slight downward angle.
Mount the camera facing north or south NOT east or west as the rising and setting of the sun could produce false
triggers and overexposed images.
If you're covering a trail, face the camera down or up the trail.
Clear out any brush or weeds in front of camera. These can cause false triggers due to temperature and motions
disturbances in front of the camera (especially on windy days).
Also, keep in mind that you will get the best results at night when the subject is within the ideal flash range, no
farther than 45 feet (14 m) and no closer than 10 feet (3 m) from the camera.
You can avoid potential false triggers due to temperature and motion disturbances in front of the camera by not
aiming it at a heat source or nearby tree branches or brush (especially on windy days).
Make sure to slide the switch to the ON position before you leave. The device will start functioning about 10
seconds later.
