- INTRODUCTION
Kind Customer,
We congratulate you for your purchase: the IMER JOINT CUTTER, the
result of years of experience, is a highly reliable machine that is sturdy
and light in one. Painstaking care has been given to correct ergonomics
to facilitate the use of it by the operator.
The machine can cut asphalt or concrete surfaces using diamond bla-
des.
For safety purposes it is essential that you carefully read through the
following instructions.
This manual must always accompany the machine, be kept by the per-
son in charge of work (e.g. SITE MANAGER) and always be available
for consultation.
The manual is an integral part of the machine and must be kept until the
machine itself is destroyed. In the event of damage or loss, you should
ask the manufacturer for another copy.
The manual contains important information about preparation of the
working area, use, maintenance procedures and requests for spare
parts. In any case adequate experience and knowledge of the machine
by the user and maintenance operators is essential. The employer is
obliged by law to check that such operators are qualifi ed.
In order to make it possible to warrant operator safety, operating safety
and long machine life, the instructions given in this manual must be
complied with as well as safety and accident prevention regulations ac-
cording to the laws in force.
Particular attention must be paid to the warnings marked with this
symbol:
1- GENERAL WARNINGS
1.1 - Read and understand the instructions before using the machine.
Correct use of this machine involves accurate knowledge of these in-
structions for use and of the risks associated with incorrect use; the ma-
chine must, therefore, only be used by expert and authorised personnel.
1.2 - Machine safety in use is guaranteed only for the functions and
materials listed in these instructions for use.
IMER INTERNATIONAL undertakes no liability if the machine is used
for other purposes than those mentioned and without following the in-
structions for use.
1.3 - IMER INTERNATIONAL disclaims liability with regard to the sa-
fety, reliability and performance of the machinery if the warnings and
suggestions given herein fail to be adhered to with particular reference
to activities involving: assembly, use, routine and extraordinary mainte-
nance, repairs.
1.4 - Only genuine spare parts must be used for extraordinary mainte-
nance and repair operations.
1.5 - In any case, for repair operations you are advised to always contact
the IMER INTERNATIONAL Service Department.
Responsibility for perfect machine operating conditions concerns the
user only, if it has not been repaired or serviced correctly by unskilled or
unauthorised personnel.
1.6 - The machine operator must receive training on its correct use, the
respective protective devices and accessory tools.
1.7 - During use wear suitable clothing, safety shoes, ear protection,
protective gloves (changing oil and fi lling engine reservoir) and helmets
(hoisting operations). Do not use the machine in less than perfect physi-
cal conditions.
1.8 - The protective devices included in the machine are already fi tted
and fastened correctly on the machine itself.
Subject these protective devices and the whole machine to the routine
and extraordinary maintenance procedures at the required intervals.
1.9 - Before activating any operation with the machine, make sure that
around the working area there are no persons, animals or other obsta-

cles that could be a source of danger during work and during fi lling and
maintenance operations.
1.10 - Make sure that the engine is off if you need to go away from the
machine.
1.11 - Do not use the machine in environments where there is the dan-
ger of explosions or fi re, or in closed places without ventilation or in
underground works or digs.
1.12 - Always keep the warnings in legible conditions.
1.13 - It is prohibited to make alterations of any kind to the
machine structure and layout and to the type of components on the
machine. In particular, alterations are prohibited that might involve
a change to the original features of the machine (rotation speed,
tool diameter, etc.).
1.14 - ENDOTHERMIC ENGINE: for all fi lling, oil change, maintenance
and cleaning operations, refer to the attached handbook.
2- NOISE AND VIBRATION EMISSION LEVEL
2.1- NOISE EMISSION
The sound pressure level measured at the operator's ear is
HONDA GX390
2.2- VIBRATIONS
Vibrations transmitted to the hand/arm system
HONDA GX390
The measurements have been carried out with the engine at top speed
and the disk not engaged.
3- RESIDUAL RISKS AND INDIVIDUAL PROTECTIVE DEVICES
Though the machine has been built in compliance with current safety
regulations, residual risks that cannot be eliminated exist that are con-
nected with actual machine operation.
- Risks due to OVERHEAD LOADS:
this risk occurs during hoisting operations (see "TRANSPORTA-
BILITY" paragraph); this operation must be carried out by expert
personnel equipped with appropriate IPDs: helmet and shoes with
reinforcement.
- Risks due to MOVING BODIES:
despite the low transfer speed of the machine, which is run by
hand, the presence of a cutting disk involves a risk. Specifi cations
include IPDs (safety shoes), clearing and forbidding access to the
cutting area; and it is expressly forbidden to move the machine with
the disk up and with the engine running (this is shown by a special
pictogram on thecutting disk guard).
- CHEMICAL RISKS due to the presence of MINERAL OILS and FUELS:
see the corresponding specifi cations contained in the endothermic
engine handbook (attached).
- MECHANICAL RISKS due to the presence of MOVING PARTS:
the drive components and cutting disk are protected by metal
guards; special pictograms highlight the presence of risk and
prohibit working without the guards.
- Risks due to NOISE:
without prejudice to specifi cations concerning noise in the workpla-
ce, the noise produced by the machine requires the following me-
asures of protection: use of ear protection (ear plugs). A pictogram
shows this requirement.
- Risks due to VIBRATIONS:
the acceleration rate transmitted to the operator's hand/arm is sta-
ted so that the employer can adopt the suitable preven-tive mea-
sures.
- Risks due to LACK OF INFORMATION AND TRAINING:
the warning signs considered necessary have been provided. This
manual is supplied to those who need to assemble, adjust, use
and repair the machine, underscoring the need to consult it before
every operation. Unauthorised persons are expressly forbidden to
use the machine.
