WARNING: Switch off the machine and
wait until the machine has come to a complete
standstill before changing the speed. Adjust the
speed to the material to be drilled and the drill-
ing diameter.
• For drilling in wood, choose a high speed.
• For drilling in metal and plastics, choose a
lower speed as the drilling diameter increases.
OPERATION
• Use waste material to practise your skills and
to learn operating the machine first.
• When drilling through, adjust the table to
make sure that the drill is aligned with the
opening in the centre of the table. If required,
mark the position on the front side of pillar and
table in case the table should be set in the same
position at a later time.
• Securely tighten the work piece. Toppling,
turning or sliding not only results in a rough
drilling hole, it also in creases the risk of the drill
breaking off.
• Use a piece of waste wood as a backup to re-
duce the risk of the work piece splintering and
to protect the drill tip.
• Place flat work pieces on a wooden under-
ground and clamp securely to the table to pre-
vent them from turning. Support work pieces
that are irregular of shape and cannot be put
flat onto the table.
• Use the lift handles to bring the drill lift down-
wards. Slowly feed the drill into the work piece.
• Drill slowly when the drill is about to break
through the work piece to prevent splintering.
"ON / OFF" SWITCH
To turn on the machine (TB512B and TB558B)
press the switch to the "I" position and to turn
it off press the "0" button.
Safety power switch (TC734B and TC658B). This
feature is intended to help prevent ignition or
other possible hazards by children and others.
Insert the yellow plastic key into the trade into
the switch.
NOTE: without this safety device, the switch can-
not be turned on or off.
TO TURN ON THE DRILL: once the device is in
the switch, place your finger under the switch
lever and lift.
TO TURN OFF THE DRILL: push the switch down.
IN CASE OF EMERGENCY: If the drill gets stuck,
skids or stops, or tends to tear the workpiece,
you can quickly turn off the bench drill by hit-
ting the switch with your hand.
E N G L I S H •
WARNING: for your own safety, always turn
off the switch when the bench drill is not in use
(remove the key and keep it in a safe place, in
the event of a power failure, or transformer ex-
plosion, turn off the switch) lock the switch and
remove the key. This will prevent it from start-
ing unexpectedly when power returns.
MAINTENANCE
The tool does not require special maintenance,
just regularly clean the vents.
WARNING: To avoid electric shock or fire
hazard, if the power cord is broken or worn in
any way, replace it immediately.
LUBRICATION
Turn the drilling to the maximum drilling depth
once every 3 months and grease them gener-
ously with oil.
TROUBLESHOOTING
NOISES WHILE OPERATING
Incorrect band tension. Adjust the belt tension.
Shaft without greasing. Lubricate the shaft.
Loose shaft pulley. Check the pressure of the
pulley retaining nut, tighten if necessary.
Motor pulley loose. Tighten the pulley adjust-
ment screws.
DRILL OVERHEATS
Wrong speed. Change the speed.
The chip does not come out of the hole. Retract
the drill bit from time to time to clean sawdust
and shavings.
The drill has no edge. Sharpen or change drill
bit.
It is drilling very slowly. Drill faster. Allow the
drill to make its cut.
It is not lubricated. Lubricate the drill properly.
DRILL BIT DOES NOT PERFORM ROUND CUTS
Wood grain is very hard or cuts at incorrect an-
gles. Sharpen your drill bit correctly.
Curved drill bit. Replace your drill bit.
THE WOOD SPLITS FROM BELOW
There is no backing material under the work
piece. Use a piece of unusable wood to support
your work piece.
