Intended use

The PARI PEP System provides an effective combination of PEP (Positive
Expiratory Pressure) and inhalation treatment for secretion clearance in acute
and chronic diseases of the lower respiratory tract. PEP treatment may be
performed separately from or together with inhalation treatment.
The PARI PEP system can be used with all PARI nebulisers that are cur-
rently available commercially (with the exception of the nebulisers in the
PARI LC SPRINT family, the PARI BABY and PARI TIA nebulisers). The
manufacturer will be able to tell you whether the PARI PEP System can be
used with PARI nebulisers that are introduced in the future.
Please read and follow the instructions for use of the corresponding
PARI compressor and/or PARI nebuliser.

Information

The PARI PEP System is available in two versions, the PARI PEP System I
without pressure gauge and the PARI PEP System II with pressure gauge.
The gauge is used to adjust the expiratory resistance to your individual needs
and to monitor it during treatment. Treatment with the PARI PEP System nor-
mally leads to an increase in lung volume and expiratory pressure, which in
turn causes the interbronchial collateral channels to dilate. This promotes
secretion clearance and, together with inhalation, ensures that more medica-
tion is delivered to the treatment site. The combination of PEP and inhalation
treatment serves to clear secretions more quickly and efficiently. It also helps
with exercising the expiratory and inspiratory muscles.
